Even though Halas loooooves Tina the Groomer, and will be very still, sweet, and cooperative for however long she has to work on him, he hates it when I brush him.  As a result, I don't brush him nearly as often or as thoroughly as I need to.  Combine that with he and Barley being together for the better part of this month, biting, chewing, and slobbering on each other, and I had one matted doodle.  He went to see Tina the Groomer yesterday.  I told her that she'd probably have to shave some spots, but she always does her best to avoid that, or try to work a comb-over situation to cover up a spot that she has to clip really short or shave.  I also wanted about 2 inches taken off of his coat anyway, so I was expecting a very short-haired doodle when I picked him up, and that's exactly what I got.  She had to go so short in so many spots, that he looked really patchy, so she just evened him out.  I think he looks really good, and he's velvety soft.  I also like that you can tell he's not fat.  When his hair is long, everyone thinks he's fat.  Now, you can really see his scrawny little neck, although it's covered by his ultra-tough skull and crossbones bandanna in these pics.

Here is a before pic.  It's just of his face, but it's such a goofy look that I had to include it.  These pics are all from my phone, so I don't know how good they'll be.

And here's one of Barley, just because he's cute, and partly responsible for the state of Halas' hair.

Leslie,  He looks so touchably soft!!!   I just want to reach out and touch him and smell that beautiful, clean coat!    It's always a shock to me to see Banjo cut down...but I get over it quickly and enjoy the "new" dog in town.   Such a handsome Halas!

Very adorable doodles, Halas is very cute both before and after the short haircut. Mojo is seven months old and lets me brush him but he wiggles and moves so much it makes it a chore. Last month I bought a grooming arm with a no sit grooming harness and have it on my sewing/craft table that I groom and brush him on, it made a world of difference in brushing him, and the Les Poochs brush also helps as I think my other slicker brush hurt him somewhat.

He is so adorable!  The groomer did a great job.  I get the same "fat" references when Kona is long.  Then when she is cut short, they all ohh and ahhh at her change :)

Halas looks amazing.....do you think he can run even faster at Flyball now?  That Barley is one cute pup.

He should be more aerodynamic, so maybe he will be faster!

That was my first thought!

They are both so adorable and I love the short look!  I totally understand about them biting, chewing and slobbering on each other,  Rooney & Stuart chew each others ears like gum - lol!!

Wow looking sharp Halas!  Especially your skull scarf!  You will be the talk of the fly ball circuit for sure!

Halas looks just velvety soft! I'm glad she does such a good job even when he has to be clipped short. It sounds like you have one wonderful groomer. Barley is awfully cute, too! Having two around means lots more grooming needed and less time to do it. ;o)

Barley is my mom's dog, but she went on vacation for almost 2 weeks.  The day after she got back from that, we all went to flyball for the weekend.  Then we were back one day, and she went on a 2-day shopping trip with some friends, so Barley and Halas have been together almost every day since early October.  That's a lot of slobber!

Oh, I think Halas looks wonderful! Your groomer did a great job!

And your phone takes great photos, too!

Leslie -- Do you put him up on a counter or table or something when you are trying to brush him?  Sometimes that makes a lot of difference and could be why he is better behaved for the groomer!
