First on my mind: Thinking about my Doodle friends on the East Coast tonight. Be safe!
I have been out rescuing dogs thisweek...well...A dog. Poor little baby was living at a busy intersection at a car wash for a couple of weeks. No one could catch him; certainly not animal control. He is way too smart for that. I could not sleep at night when the weather got cold so I spent a few hours doing my dog-charming walk yesterday. I kept walking in circles around the BUSY car wash and not looking at him until he became interested in me. Then, I began to put spoonfuls of delicious dog food about every ten feet. At one point, I thought I had lost him and decided to call it a day. Heard him barking/screaming and saw him across a busy street looking at me and saying, "Hey! You! Over here! It's quieter and we can talk."
I eased across the street and within an hour or so he was in my lap and crying quietly, and telling me how rough it was being alone for so long.
For my troubles, I am now the proud foster mom (owner?) of a coal black Basenji / Chihuahua mix baby. His foster (new?) name is "Harry." Smart little boy. In 36 hours he has become a brave boy who is not afraid to walk through doors (thresholds terrified him), he is doing great at being housebroken. He is all snuggles and love.
Foxy Stone does not acknowledge him, but does not hate him, either. We will go to the vet on Thursday...soon it will be SNIP day. If he is going to be a large dog, I will need to find him a home. If not, he is probably going to be mine, and hopefully, Foxy's.
I know...not a Doodle...but he needed to get off that darn busy intersection.
Hugs, cruise buddies!

Brendalicious, what a great save! Thank you for rescuing Harry! If he's as smart as you say he is, he'll stay small.
;-O
Go Brendalicious! I love a good local rescue story =) Good work!
Brenda, you rock! What a wonderful thing you did. No wonder little Harry is all snuggles.
OMD, Brendalicious (by the way, have you told the peeps at the office your new name??), I am so proud of you! I can just see you at that intersection trying to convince Harry to come to you! He's going to be small...he's not going anywhere! I'm sure Foxy's world has been rocked a bit, but I betting he'll adjust quickly and they'll be great buds! love ya!
Doris, He was living at the car wash and laundromat by Wings n More/Southwood Valley!
How wonderful of you, saving a life that was miserable and destined for worse. I'd love to see some pictures. We call every dog on here that has a wonderful story an 'honorary Doodle' Harry is one lucky HD : )
I am crying . . . thank you for being so kind and for taking Harry in!
Brendalicious, YOU ROCK! I'm betting you have already found him his "new home". We need pictures!
Awww Brenda - just seeing this has made my CRY! You have just the biggest ever heart - learned that on the cruise and now this. What a wonderful thing you have done! I do so hope that this guy ends up being yours and Foxy's. Blessings to you dear friend!!!!
You know how some puppies "grow into their feet" and become huge? Well, if Harry "grows into his ears" you'll have one enormous (yet adorable) dog!!!!!! Good job on the rescue!
