I am wondering how many people have actually tasted their dog's food?
I have never tasted Alma's food. We free feed her. I have never had a dog that does not eat the instant the food is put down. But Alma eats when she wants to - sometimes hours after I have put her food down. We've tried many different brands with the same results. She is at a healthy weight according to our vet and has been really healthy. So, I'm really just curious...
Have you ever tried dog food?

That's funny.
Um, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and i don't ever intend to.
Daisy eats Acana Pacifica, it has such a strong smell of the sea (you know fishy) ew. She loves it. I am going to go out on a limb here and say it must be more tasty than Orijen because she would not eat that until she was starving.
Joanne, if you come to my house you can punch me in the nose and I can return the favor! Ha ha
Can I just say I love DK. I have learned so much on this site and today I'm learning about taste buds. hugs to all of you.
I agree. These replies are educating.
Umm, yes, I have to admit to tasting my dog's food. The kibble is not good (and I feed Acana), but I've tasted the soft meat roll with veggies that I use for toppings or treats (Freshpet Select), and it was not bad. I use topping for my older dog: cheese, yogurt, pieces of jerky, raw lamb patties. Otherwise he would not eat. It's my fault. I created a picky eater and know that if I put dry kibble down, he would eventually eat it since dogs won't starve themselves.
I guess I have created a picky eater already and she's only 8 months old! Oh boy!!!
I have tried some and you wouldn't like them. I had a neighbor's son who ate the dog's food on a regular basis (dry food), but I tried some of the wet varieties because my dog didn't want them and I could see why. My dogs will eat anything that I eat, veges and fruits, and love any human treats on their food. But remember, dogs are basically carnivores. They want meat as part of their diet. But who would feed their dog ground up chicken feathers, horse meat, and the other things that are in some dog foods. Read the labels.
I tasted some very fancy cookie like thing, maybe from Les Poochs. Not good, not bad.
