Okay, East Coasters.... when you can please check in with us. I'm up in the middle of the night on the west coast, watching the news and wondering how all of you are doing!

I agree, donate!
Also, at this time, do not donate clothing. Just money is what is needed let them allocate resources. It really is the best way.
I went to a meeting of an organization I belong to of retired teachers--there were less than 30 of us there, but we donated $600 to the Red Cross! Wish it could be more but we did something at least--hang in there New Jersey, New York and CT!!

Awesome, Ginny!  I texted in and it worked!

I keep thinking of the families and their homes that are lost and all the destruction, but of all the silly things to think about, I wonder about the carousel on the Seaside boardwalk. It wasn't on the pier with all the rides that ended up in the ocean. It was on the main pier in an arcade, but it's probably all over the ocean too. It was one of my Dad's things, to have us all ride the carousel every time we went. This has been going on for years! He'd have tickets ready before we knew it and so we went. I always looked for the rabbit to ride when I was young and my daughter grew to do the same. I was just searching for a family photo to post in the November Photography Discussion and came upon this. So glad we have the photo! Kate is on the rabbit and my Dad is behind her. <3

Janie, So happy you have this precious memory documented. The devastation is shocking. Prayers for all who are suffering. Thanks for posting.

It's not silly.  Lots of us on the East Coast have these memories of the shore.  Thanks for sharing.

I was there when I was 14   :)  I still have memories of the NJ  shore.

I have more memories of Long Island.   I spent many summers there.  Anyone at all hear from members there?

No.  We're trying to get in touch with some extended family there.  No direct word yet.  Some were traveling (probably lucky) and couldn't get back.  Hope Spud's doing better.

What a great memory/photo. I did see a carousel horse's leg strewn about in one story but I hope it's not this one. We now have power on my street!!! Silence, no generators, is golden . Thank s to all those heroic linemen working every day, long tough hours!

Delighted to hear you have electricity before the suggested Nov 11th! Yes, I second that hooray for the hardworking linemen. What a daunting job they face after horrible storms.

Great news F!!!!

Glad you power is back.  I know the feeling.  We have on several occasions been without power for up to two weeks.  We have a portable generator which sits a safe distance from the back door which is the only door we use.  I have to wear hearing protection to come and go.  And, you can hear the generator over the whole house.  Silence IS golden.  We are always so thankful to our local power coop for all their hard and dangerous work.
