SNOW! That is correct - for the 1st time in 4 YEARS - I'll get to be home in Michigan for Christmas. I'm so excited as dh and I are driving up and taking Rooney & Stuart - they have NEVER EVER seen snow, so this should be fun. I'm suspecting that Rooney will not appreciate it at all and big ol Stuart is going to be crazy. I've had dogs in snow before but they were labs and snow was never an issue - I'm worried about the doods feet with the ice and snow and also about snow clingers in their hair. I did get them coats to help keep the dry while on walks - should I be getting some of the doggy boot things? Do they stay on their feet and what is the best brand. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated for these Florida doods!!!! Camilla's beautiful photos of Darwin in new snow have me so excited!!!

Jane, I'm excited for you! I just hope you get plenty of snow for your guys. I only put coats on G & M if we're going to be out for a real long time.....over an hour....and it's super cold. I have the disposable dog boots, but neither of my Doods like them. They do get the "snowballs" in their hair and especially on their feet. I do my best to get them off when we first come inside, and they've gotten pretty good at "licking" the rest off.
Are you talking about the booties that kinda look like deflated balloons? I've seen those and might give them a try.
I would put a balm on their paws 'Mushers Secret' seems to be the best one. It will stop the snow balling up under the pads and protect them. Can't wait to see pictures. We didn't have snow last Winter here so neither of mine have seen snow ....if it comes then fun times indeed.
Thanks Nicky - I'll be looking for either Mushers Secret or Bag Balm!
Just let them go barefoot! The snow only seems to cling in certain conditions (not sure if it has to do with temp or humidity) to Gavin's fur (who is more like Stuart). If he get balls of snow between his pads I dunk his paws in a pail of warm water and dry with a towel. I second the suggestion of getting a balm to put on the pads. I use Bag Balm. They will have a blast. Snow zoomies are the best!
Oh my gosh - that is too funny. I'm sure it saves a lots of clean up time but I'd be laughing too hard.
How exciting - a White Christmas! Hope you have a wonderful trip and that the boys (even Rooney) have a blast playing in the snow. I'll be looking for some Camilla-like pictures!!!!
Jane, My dogs have never worn boots in the snow. Sometimes, I do bring out the coats. The snowballs are a pain, but they love the snow so much, it is really just the price we have to pay :) I am working on a patent for some gators I designed for my two and would be happy to give you directions so you can make your own.
laughing out LOUD! Laurie.
Jane, I hope you have a great time! We go to Wisconsin every December. I hope we both have lots of snow!
Uhhhh - me make them? Surely you jest! Let me know when I can ORDER some - lol!!!! I'd like 2 sets of 4 please - love the stripes.
