Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have a three year old male wheaten/labradoodle mix male. He is a wonderful dog and my children adore him. Sadly, he is dog-aggressive and I just don't have the time to rehabilitate his behaviour. I have three young children and have realized that I need a different kind of dog for the family. We adore him and don't want him to go to just anyone. The home he goes to will preferably be an older couple, or a single person without children who can lavish love on him and give him lots of exercise. I have spoken to my breeder, vet and dog trainer, and have decided that this decision is the best for me. I do not want him to go into a shelter as I fear they may put him down.

He is totally up to date with shots, does not shed, is house trained. Never begs or eats food that is not in his bowl. Does not go on furniture. An amazing mellow dog in the house but loves to run in our woods.

If you are looking for wonderful dog and have the time for the one described, please let me know.

You must be so upset to have to give up your dog.  I hope you find him a good loving home.

Hi Robynne,

Please contact Doodle Rescue Collective http://www.doodlerescue.org/ They will be able to find a great pre-screened home for Jesse from their hundreds of applicants that are dying to give a doodle a good home.

We had our lab shepard mix for 16 years. She was also dog aggressive. We got our doodle when she was 15 and it took her a bit of time before she decided that he was here to stay and then she figured she was supposed to look after him!

We had gotten two dogs at the time and her sister had to be found a new home as they would fight and the kids were little and we worried they would get in between them and get hurt. When the people came to get her sister she was left with no dog to  fight with and became a great dog. Then we had to move into the city where dogs were all over the place. We would have to watch out on walks that she was unable to reach another dog. We had to go away once and had a family look after her. I told them at no time were the kids to walk her alone incase she saw another dog and something happened. Well low and behold she spent the week there and the kids were able to walk her she saw lots of other dogs they took her to a large gathering with other dogs present and nothing. Turns out she was only dog aggressive when she was with us her family! She was protecting us.

Long story short both she and her sister lived very happy long 16 year old lives starting from the OSPCA. We adapted to their needs and although she didn't get to do somethings with us that our doodle can now do, we didn't suffer because of it and they both thrived throughout their lifetime.

Our story.

I hope the rescue can help you out.

If you have consulted your breeder aren't they willing to help you re-home Jesse?

I just came upon this message. I realize that it's been almost a year since it was written and that chances are that you have already found a home for your dog. However, if you have not, or if anyone reading this message has or knows of someone who has a doodle in a similar situation please contact me at isisclemente@yahoo.com.

I am a professional, have a fenced in yard no small children at home and I am ooking for a low shedding doodle. I would be willing to talk to you.

Thanks.
