Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

For some reason my computer locks up on the original thread for the boarding dilemman so I needed to start a new thread.  I wanted to thank everyone for the great feed back, I got very excited about the offer in NC but it is much too far out of the way.  We did go over and look at the second option kennel and were pleased with what we saw and the owner...but I also love the idea put out in this thread about pre-boarding to see how it goes, Love that idea and if we end up boarding there we will do exactly that.  With all the input I started thinking about the lady we got her from that rescued her and I think I will call and see if she would be interested in having her for the time we are gone.  She is also a "doodle" person so it would be a great place.  I feel better having some options.

I hope everyone understands that as a rule we would take her along, this is the first time we are all together since my son-in-law passed away and I really need to focus on my daughter for those days.  Next trip to Atlanta and Meg gores along to meet all her nephews and nieces, both 2 and 4 legged.

Thanks again for all the great ideas, I really am loving this board and all the very loving people/doodles that come along with it.

So sorry about your son-in-law--that does change everything with regards to bringing the dog. How sad. Looks like you have some good options for Meg.

So give us a couple weeks notice when you are coming to Atlanta and we Atlanta Area Doodles will try to put a romp together for you. :)

Nina, that sounds like great fun and would love to meet other doodle moms.  My daughter is in the Dunwoody area, are you near there?

The lady you got her from sounds like a promising lead too.

You never know when and how you will find the perfect spot.  We are lucky to have a few great options, but the one in particular just happened by chance.  I was out walking Gavin a couple of years ago and a women who was out walking stopped me to say that she sees me and my husband out walking all the time and she thinks Gavin is just beautiful.  She went on the say that if I ever needed someone to look after him she would love to do it.  We just kind of connected.  We exchanged emails and I told my husband.  Well it turned out he knew her husband and said he was a stand up guy.  So Gavin and I stopped by for a visit and it was love at first sight for him.  That combined with a fenced in yard and two sweet kittys to play with, well it was great.  They go for 6 mile hikes on a daily basis! They have watched him for a day or three here and there and keep telling us that we really need a loooong vacation.   They are keeping him for a week in December and are beyond excited.  She never wants to take any money, but I pay her anyway.  For Christmas this year she is getting a DK Calendar!

Best luck to you and dear Meg!

I would like to add that I am very sorry about your son-in-law.  What a tragic situation.

I am so sorry about your son-in-law. You are giving this a lot of thought and research.  I am sure you will find the best place to board Meg. Let us know what you decide and how it works out.  Enjoy your trip.

I am so very sorry to hear that your son-in-law passed away. Yes, your first responsibility is to be attentive to your daughter. I hope your doodle's foster mom can take her. That would be the most ideal of all options! I can imagine the holiday is a hard time to make this all work out.
