Hey everyone.. we have been weening Midas from Purina one Large breed puppy chicken kibble to Orijen kibble.. we have been gradually adding in the Orijen..since sunday... and yesterday morning he added a little more...as we were supposed to..and literally 2 minutes after Midas ate he puked his whole breakfast up...and didnt puke again.. had lunch and dinner and was fine... then today midas had breakfast..and i gave him lunch and he puked 2 minute again right after eating..and is now fine... u think its the new Orijen food is not sitting well with him? i dont know.. he hasnt puked after every meal.. ..and after he puked he was trying to re eat it.. so should i feed him lunch again? what do i do?

I suspect that given the immediate reaction the cause is not that the food is disagreeing with him - two minutes just is not enough time. Add to that the inconsistency of occurrence each time (not at all meals) which seems to point to something else. Maybe he is eating too fast?
Not sure how often you are feeding your little guy and he will not starve BUT if he is eating fast because he is hungry then you may be setting him up by not offering something. Your call entirely but you may wish to offer him a very small amount of a portion and just see how he does with that. IF you need to just slow him down a bit you could easily put the same amount on a larger surface so that it is not so dense and he has to work around a bit to get it all. Sometimes we use glass pie plates or cookie sheets for our puppies. Obviously if he continues this pattern I would suggest seeking medical attention.
How many hours between his last meal and night and his breakfast? I have had to start giving my doods 2 mini dinners because they kept throwing up bile in the morning. If they go too long between meal they throw up bile and it is gross. So now they eat at 6:30am, 6pm, and 9pm and that really seems to be helping.
My first thought is that you may be overfeeding him. Too much food too often could cause vomiting. How old is he, what is his weight, and how much of each food is he getting each day? If I can have that information, i can help you figure out how much food he should be getting.
Orijen is much more nutrient dense and higher in calories than the Purina, and you feed less. Also, he should probably be getting two meals a day now, not three. Puppies generally go from three to two feedings a day between 4 and 6 months.
hey karen...thank u! ok.. so he is 8 months.. weighs 75 pounds..and i have been giving him, now that we are weening.. 2 1/3 cups of orijen.. and 2 1/3 cups of purina per meal.. 3 xs a day. but eventually it will be a total of 4 cups per day... the vet said 3 1/2 so we were going to do 4 because before the switch we WERE over feeding him... he was getting 6 cups a day.. so i feel like suddenly reducing him to 3 1/2 cups might make him feel very hungry... the vet said he is lean so no need to worry now but she said 3 1/2 cups a day now.. split into 2xs a day but then i said i felt bad not giving him lunch so she said then divide it into 3 times a day.. thats the weird thing..he was eating more before and never threw up..and now hes eating less and he puked 2wice... he hasnt thrown up again since i posted this yesterday.. and he is NOT acting sick at all.. here is the times he usually eats.. tell me if it sounds good... he eats breakfast at about 8/9... then lunch at 1/2 (depending what time he had breakfast) and then dinner around 7/8 depending again on the days breakfast and lunch times..and our schedule.. so its really okay to skip his lunch? i feel so bad... hes ALWAYS hungry... after i feed him he looks up at the container wanting more... :/
I would absolutely go to two meals a day and not feel bad about it. Many dogs are only fed once a day, and I don't know any adult dogs who are fed more than twice a day unless they are sick. Midas will adjust just fine. Many dogs will eat all day if you give them food, so trust me, he isn't always hungry, that's just what some dogs do.
At this point, I would eliminate the Purina altogether and stay with the Orijen. Two meals a day and you can hold out a little bit (half a cup) to give him aa a snack at lunchtime for now. It's actually more important to give him a small snack in the evening than at lunch.
Which Orijen formula are you using? The calories and feeding guidelines are very different between the regular Orijen puppy formula and the large breed formula, so I can't recommend amounts without knowing.
