Good Idea! I think I may consider that in a couple more years ... thanks for the suggestion! :)
I agree, I have the same concerns but Mocha did come with a certificate from the breeder's vet (supposedly). Not sure how authentic it is. We were all as excited as he was to see each other, that we really did not care where he came from. He was checked out by our local vet and all's good for now. Maybe when he gets up there in age, I may take Sue's (?) advice and get Pet Insurance .....
I would not wait until he "gets up there" in age. Every dog from every breeder needs to be covered by insurance. Even a healthy dog can swallow something that causes an intestinal blockage and requires a $3000 surgery, or the dog will die. Something like allergies can cost $1000 for testing and treatment, and many dogs are diagnosed with allergies before they are two years old. Puppies can have hip dysplasia, requiring $7000 worth of surgery that must be done as soon as possible, before the skeletal growth is complete. Doodle owners right here on DK have faced all of these issues and many more, and none of this has anything to do with the breeder's vet exams. Once something has been diagnosed, you will not be able to get the insurance coverage. Insurancve coverage is very inexpensive for a puppy with no prior health issues, so please look into it sooner rather than later.
