Chloe is 4 mths old and will not walk on a leash unless I have her on a VERY short length. If I give her any length at all on the leash, she just sits down and I have to pull her to make her "come". She is very smart and knows her commands-she just won't cooperate on a leash! Any ideas?

Thanks. Going to call trainer tomorrow!
I assumed that a class was already involved... If not - puppy class indeed!
I talked to some friends and they recommended a trainer just about 30 miles from me that does one on one with owner and dog over the course of several weeks. 35 yrs experience and is licensed. I am going to call tomorrow! Thanks everyone!

Here are a list of 13 classes in your area. Some look pretty good.

Wilson did this!  I think he was just scared by all the big stuff outside.

I never tried this but it was suggested by more than one person......take a long wooden spoon and coat the bottom (spoon end) with peanut butter.  Hold it so it is in front of the pup's nose/mouth and walk short, short distances, letting the pup get a bit of peanut butter.

I have no idea if that would work but it sounds promising.

I ended up letting Wilson drag the leash around the house and yard and eventually picked it up and walked him around the house/yard in small increments offering treats frequently, until he was more comfortable. If the leash biting is getting in the way with "training" maybe spraying Bitter Apple on it would help.

Thanks JoAnn and Lori! CountryView was the one highly recommended by friends. I am calling them today for some one on one! :-)
