Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well - it has been over a year since the first post - thought I'd give you all an update. Dh is still without work and we are starting to consider him "retired". His info is out there but unless someone comes calling we are stopping the search ourselves. He had two really great phone interviews with headhunters this week about two separate positions. They both loved him - only took 6 hrs for the 1st to call back with "the company says they want a younger CEO" and the second called back a few days later with "they won't chance you leaving - you're too over qualified". Doesn't surprise me - but really - 59 is too old for a CEO? What about experience? Maturity? Their loss!!!!
So life will go on but in ways we might not have expected. We are buying a lot in Punta Gorda on a canal - so that we can build a place and live the boating lifestyle. We'll be able to have a fenced in yard for Rooney and Stuart so I'm very excited by that!!!!! There are a couple of Churches in P.G. that I want to check out - so new things will come once this house sells. THANK YOU ALL for your continued prayers!!! Have a wonderful weekend. Jane
Could we ask for some extra prayer? DH is flying to Houston on 3/22 for an interview!!!! It is kinda a long shot but we would be so grateful for anything! Thanks.
Hi all - just a small request - could you add DH and I to your prayer request. I so believe in the power of prayer and the more the better! My dh lost his job about 3-4 weeks ago and I'm trying to look at it as divine intervention. His job had us living apart for the better part of the last 4-5 years and the stress had me worried about his health. We are so much better off than most so I remain very grateful for what we have - health, our family, friends and of course the "boys" - Rooney, Stuart and our kitty. I'm thinking this is a great way to get me and the boys out of Florida, away from the those gators - lol and into a yard with a fence!
At my dh's level (Sr. V.P. or CEO) jobs aren't something that you can find for yourself - they have to come looking for you - so he continues to network with headhunting companies and past associates. It seems that there are many of us on DK in the "un-employment" phase - please remember all of them too. Thanks so much! Jane

Of course, Jane.....I will definitely remember you and DH in my prayers, and I so hope that this is short term and the right opportunity will find you.
Absolutely Jane, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and it is God's plan for you. You have a awesome outlook that it very well could be a wonderful blessing in disguise.
Matthew 6:33 But let your first care be for his kingdom and his righteousness; and all these other things will be given to you in addition.
This is one of my very favorite verses, it can apply to so many things in life and really puts perspective on things........
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
I would say about 5 years ago my husband thought he was going to get what he thought was the "job of his dreams" and at the time he was very depressed that he didn't. About 2 years ago my husband went to a men's prayer breakfast and his current boss was speaking and he gave a testimony that completely changed DH's perspective on God, we had a church previous to this but after that we found a new church home that really spoke to us and especially DH. About 1 1/2 years ago DH was offered a job that he had never even dreamed he would be given the opportunity for. I really believe through prayer and trusting our Lord to follow his path he opened doors for him. He says all the time how blessed he was that he did not get the "original" job of his dreams.
Jane, I will keep you in my prayers and I hope your DH finds a job that keeps him home and much less stressed.
Jane you and your dh are in my prayers. I pray he finds work that he likes and is able to be with be with you and your family.
I too have been in your shoes. My motto...everything always works out. In the meantime, my prayers are with you.
Jane, I will add you and your DH to my prayer list. Our God is an awesome God and He looks down on all of us who look up! When I was dealing with my cancer diagnosis, I friend told me this: Don't worry about tomorrow because God is already there! I hope this helps. Hugs to all of you!
Jane, is there any news on the job search? I know it is very soon to expect exactly what he is searching for but I am wondering if he is finding places that are interviewing and if he is hopeful. Praying for you.
Just checking in to see if there is any news on the job front for DH. I have continued to pray for him.
Thanks Bonnie - sadly no job yet. He is working on something with a Chinese Co. (Not again) but only as a consultant and after 2 trips to China - no money as of yet :( My biggest concern at my age 55 is the health insurance - the Cobra is just so expensive.
I've made a very difficult decision - at the end of this month I am leaving Bob and the doodles in FL (I haven't been able to bring myself to tell this to anyone on DK until know) and am heading back to MI to try to find a full time position myself. I've been out of the work force for 9 years now and with Obama Care - many companies are trying to avoid hiring full time people so my chances are very slim. I'm heartbroken about leaving all my boys but with dd getting married in MI this summer I can't be stuck working full time down in FL.
We have a financial situation (thanks to savings/retirement) that keeps us in a decent posistion so I still have so much more than many - I will not despare but hard sacrifices are to be made. It helps to know that I have all of you praying for us! Jane
Oooo - just read this - just to clarify - dh WILL join me in MI in the Spring/Early Summer - so my time without the boys will be for maybe 3 months.
I know this must be a tough decision, Jane. Sending prayers...
