does your doodle scratch your leather couch?

hello all! i have an 8 1/2 month old goldendoodle... right now i have 2 couches that a coworker gave me that are fabric... i want to get a leather couch..but midas flys up on the ouch and walks on the back of the couch and everything... does their nails scratch leather? should i just keep him off the couch all together? but i like him sitting and laying next to me on the couch..

I had a true high end leather sofa that was given to me, it had fabric on one side and real leather the other side ..it did scratch not a lot but it I'd,

My brand new sofa a chose a leather blend. ..it is part real leather part fake? It doesn't seem to scratch ......I want my baby sitting where I am and I didn't want to worry.

Our leather sofa has plenty of scratches.  Unfortunately it is a softer leather and the scratches don't add character or patina.....it just looks scratched.  The dogs are allowed on the sofa, but not to play - only to lounge.  I do keep blankets handy for them to lay on.  But even so, when Wilson jumps on and off, he leaves a mark.  :( 

I think it ultimately depends on the type of leather used.  Some is more durable; some is more supple.
