When I am on the couch I love to put the recliner end up and be comfy.  Meg likes that because then she lays down with her butt next to mine, back along my legs and her head resting on the foot rest when it is up.  I finished a movie and was ready to go to bed last night and shook her shoulder to get her up so we could go upstairs...she didn't move, so I picked up her head to tell her come on...she didn't move, thinking I was funny I let the foot rest down so her head would drop and wake her up...not only didn't move but the rest of her started sliding forward off the couch, I tried to grab her body to stop the fall and she was worse than an overcooked noodle, down she went and LAID THERE with her eyes closed, my heart stopped and just as I reached down to feel her chest (I honestly thought she had died) she opened her eyes and blinked at me like WHY DID YOU PUT ME ON THE FLOOR?  As soon as I stood up she did too and headed for the stairs...

Does anyone else have a doodle that sleeps that soundly?  I don't ever want that scare again.

OMD! Just reading this gave me a scare. I know Banjo never sleeps that soundly. I feel badly sometimes because it seems he's always on alert.....waking at the slightest thing. Even when I think he's in a deep sleep, if I say a certain word....like 'bacon' his head pops right up! This would have scared me to death!
Halas sleeps soundly sometimes, but not THAT soundly. Wow! That would scare me, too.
I'm glad Meg was OK. My two would have woken.

That would have scared me too! My dogs have only slept that soundly when they got old. Meg obviously has a clear conscience and feels very secure, lol!

OMD, no my Doods awaken at the drop of a hat.  I'd be scared too!

OMD this gave me chills when I was reading it.  Thank goodness Meg is ok and Mommy is good too.  I can only imagine how scared you were for a few short moments.  Libby never sleeps that sound and always on the alert for some noise. So happy everything is ok:)

Ned only sleeps very soundly when he is on the foot of my bed and I try to move him!

Yikes - scary! Glad Meg is Okay.

Gavin can sleep pretty good.  It used to be tough to wake him up to go out for his final pee at night.  We could drag him across the floor and he would not open his eyes. I was seriously worried that if there was a fire or something, we would not be able to get him up.   But I came to know that he was just playing us.  Once I got serious and spoke with authority and a collar tug he would jump right up for me (but not for my DH lol).  Now I just speak and he gets right up.  Silly doods.

You obviously caught Meg during a period of deep sleep!  I, too, would have been panicked!!  Glad everything is okay.

I had this happen last week with Tank. He had a hot spot on his neck and was sleeping in my lap (all 58 lbs of him) in the recliner. Suddenly I thought he wasn't breathing and started shaking him hard. He finally opened his eyes and looked annoyed that I woke him up. Scared the heck out of me.

Oh my gosh that would terrify me! Darwin has never been a super deep sleeper so that would be SCARY!

That would have really scared me. Sometimes at night I check to make sure the dogs are breathing. Even just waiting a few seconds in between breaths seems like a long time.

On a little side note: At first I thought your post said "scared the chickens out of me" and I had to find out just how that happened. :)
