Solid Gold Puppy Food

We have a 14 week old mini goldendoodle who is a picky eater. We tried 4 different kinds of dry food with very little luck. The vet said to stay away from canned food. We finally found Solid Gold puppy dry food and we sprinkle a very small amount of shredded mozzeralla cheese on top and he loves it. ah, finally. :)

We use canned white chicken from Costco and also will buy several London Broil cuts of meet when it is on sale (usually less that $1.50 per pound). We brown these in a pan and then slow cook them in a crock pot. After the meat is totally cooked, we grind it in a Cuisinart and then freeze the meat in a bunch of small plastic storage containers. We will pull one out and defrost it to use as flavoring for Holly's kibble. We only put a teaspoon or two over Holly's 2-cups of kibble in the morning and again in the afternoon. It does spur her appetite and doesn't give her soft stools.

Judy and I and our vet agree with your vet about staying away from canned food. We don't even use it to flavor the dogs food, although it would be easier than cooking for her.

By the way, we also grind up any left over fish (we eat fish 2-3 times weekly) and use that to flavor her kibble also! I think she likes salmon the best as do our Maltese!

I'm going fishing in Alaska next week and hope to bring home lots of salmon; both for Judy and I and for our dogs.

We had a picky eater as well, with a very sensitive GI tract. We switched (after some failed attempts) to Eagle Pack with excellent results...many choices, all with no wheat, corn or soy and with probiotics, which I feel has been very helpful. We, too, add to his evening meal...about 1/2 cup of nonfat cottage cheese and he actually starts drooling when he sees me take it our of the frig!

Another nice thing about Solid Gold from a corporate standpoint is that they will not sell their products to any store that sells puppies or other mammals, and they are one of the only companies that has such a policy. I think it says a lot about their integrity and caring for our dogs, and therefore makes me trust them more.
