Holly scared away an intruder last night....

After dark, someone started began pounding on my front door.  I live in a semi rural area and know all of my neighbors.  I also live at towards the end of a road with no egress so there is no one just passing by my house.

 

As the person pounded on my door, I had Judy call the Sheriff and then Holly ran up to the door and let out her "I'll rip your head off!" bark.  That apparently made the intruder decide that he didn't want to intrude - which I am very happy about.

 

He should also be happy because beginning with the time my area was pretty well filled with coyoyes, I have kept a twelve gauge double barrel shotgun in the rear of our coat closet - unloaded but with five rounds of buckshot in a holder on the gunstock.

 

The Sheriff  Deputies took a half hour to get to my house. By the time they arrived,  Holly with her big bark had solved the problem for both me and for the intruder who would have been a very unhappy fellow had he broken in...

Richard that is soooo scary and I'm glad Holly took care of things!   These Doodles do have a very loud and harsh bark when they want to, thank goodness!

This is a scary time we live in now. Our home was broken into just a few weeks ago. My husband was at work and I was luckily out of town with the dogs. They only took things that they could make quick money on, so we probably won't ever get them back. I had always thought our house was pretty secure, but I was wrong. We always lock our doors, have a dowl in the slider, and leave random lights on here and there. All they had to use was a screw driver to break open our dead bolted door. I do wonder if our dogs had been home if that would have been enough to keep them from coming in or if they would have just hurt them. Sam, the doodle, does have a mean bark so I hope that would be enough. Way to go Holly!

Love the Barking,  we rely heavily on our Doodles bark for security.....even the pizza guy rings the bell and then steps back.. I have to add,  the feeling of security given by a 12 gauge shotgun works as well.....Obama will never take away my security !  My 2nd amendment rights are sacred!
