Whew! What a relief to learn this...



Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was?


Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.

Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an event boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale.



So it's not aging, it's those stupid doors!!



Thank goodness for scientific studies like this.

These studies never cease to amaze me.  You've got to wonder who was the guy who said "oh you know what would be a brilliant idea? We should research what happens to your mind when you cross through a doorway". wow. I want to meet that guy!

  Ha I can totally see this in my mind, a kid walks into a class room ans there teacher asks them where there homework is.  The kid says I walked in the door and forgot to do it.  really, it was the door, not me!!  WE should just get rid of all the door in the world now so we don't forget anything and we can build robots that will become smater than us and then we'll build doors again.  and then the robots will build shields to protect themselves.  and then the world goes boom!
