It's The Simple Things
It's the simple things as to why I like my dog. So many little things that make my day better.
I've always HATED basements. Thank goodness we have one, but I don't like to go down there alone.
My mean sister ( the middle child) used to tell me that Billy Goat Gruff lived under the stairs and was going to grab my ankles as I went down the steps. I suppose I have a hang up because of this. Of course, blame it on her.
Spud, on command, "I'm going to the basement" or " Time to go downstairs" will get all excited, grab a toy, and go downstairs with me. Thanks Spud. After 50 years, I can finally smile when I go down the steps

I hate my basement too. I'm not really afraid of it although I wouldn't be surprised if a body or bones were found in the crawl space. But it's so disgusting I don't usually let the dogs down there. They'd get all cobwebby.

I have never had a problem with actually going into the basement. Just don't turn the light off, even if it is daytime. I think it's a spider issue... Eeew !

Eee Gads, no basements ? How can you live without a basement ? That is where you hide all the junk and boxes of.... well, stuff. Everybody needs a basement ! LOL :)

There aren't many basements in my part of WA either. We have a crawlspace under the house with a little access opening in our coat closet. I went down there a couple of weeks ago and it is not a pleasant place!

Sandy, in our house the builder put all the pipes up in the attic. If one every breaks we will be flooded in a heart beat!

On that point Sheila you are absolutely right! We finally built a shed in our backyard to hold and hide our "junk".

You are right Sandy, no basement here either. If we did, I would be afraid too! They just seem scary, unless of course you are watching HGTV and they are like castles!

Hahaha, my older brothers would tell me that "the Mole people" lived in the basement and would eat me up! I was about 7 then, and that scared the day lights outta me!! I never gave much thought (when I was older) as to exactly what the Mole people were??? :-) Heyyy it just sounded terrifying at 7!! Lol
