‎The Yellow Dog Project.  Maybe you have heard of it, maybe you haven't.  Either way, you might learn something new here.
We are proud to say that The Yellow D...og Project's creator is Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid's independent Instructor Tara Palardy of Red Deer's The Academy.  Both a dog trainer and dog lover, Tara had seen that there simply was no etiquette to nicely say "Give my dog some space".  So she created a universal form of communication: the yellow ribbon tied to the dog's leash. 
The yellow ribbon tied to a dog's leash simply means that you are not to greet them.  They might be sick, recovering from surgery, unreliable with other dogs, or there could be any other host of reasons.
No matter the reason, the yellow ribbon clearly says it all and we think it's a great idea.  Please share this information with your friends

it is sad that you have to act like some crazy nut to keep people away from your dogs.  Been there.  Done that.  Then of course I always feel like a freak after doing that.

Here in Ohio, at least Southern Ohio, Yellow Ribbons symbolize "Support the Troops".  There are yellow ribbons every where showing support.  So, if I saw someone with a yellow ribbon on their leash I would just assume that they support the troops.

True, or tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree song... but YELLOW is UNIVERSAL for Caution.

Yellow traffic lights, yellow caution signs, yellow yield signs.

Soon, our troops will all be home and we can move on to Yellow Caution Dog Symbols.

I believe that the yellow ribbon is universal for supporting our troops. However if I saw one on a leash I would think "Aah how nice, I think I'll stay the heck away from that dog that supports our troops !
