We bought a 25 foot soft leash at Wal Mart and it is great. Our trainer said NO to retractable leashes. It is great for training and also we put her out in the front while we are working in the yard so she can have some space and still be contained.
thank you!! ill check! why didnt ur trainer like the retractable?
I think it is just her personal preference and for saftey reasons!
We have a 25 foot check cord that we used to work on recall. I think we got it at tractor supply. I personally am not a fan of retractable leashes because you don't have as much control with them.
We bought a 50 foot one on Amazon, think I would also like a 25 foot one. My caution on retractable, lady I work with got the retractable wrapped around her finger and couldn't get her dog stopped in time, actually lost the end of her finger, I don't mess with them.
You can get a 15' or 20' leash at most pet stores. I would not recommend a retractable leash -just hold any extra in your hand.
Say no to retractable!
I love the country hardware stores with the long horse leashes but right now, I would not purchase an expensive leather leash since he is still a puppy. Wait 3-4 more years. But I prefer the old leather. So do pups. That's some good chew
Consider ordering online from DK Preferred Vendors where a % of the proceeds to go Doodle Rescue
I have the 15, 30, and 60 footers from the amazon link and never paid more than $10.00 for any of the lengths
Don't you use these in your training classes already?
For training I bought a 50' nylon cord and put a clasp on the end.
I bought a 100' of poly rope at the Home improvement store along with a nice stainless catch. I cut a 25' piece off the end and attached the catch. The nice thing is the poly rope also floats. just remember not to tie a knot on the free end so it doesn't hung up on anything, just melt it off with a lighter.
You can buy them at Petsmart also. DONOT by anything nylon...If your dog bolts or pulls to hard it can give you a nasty rope burn.
I have a 30' cotton training lead that is about 3/4" wide that I use. It is great to use for recall training also...But say away from anything nylon..
Definitely cotton!
