My golden Doodle is 4 1/2 months old.  I just weighed him today and he is 44 lbs.  My breeder said he would be between 55 and 65.  Im thinking he will be bigger.  Does anyone have an opinion?

Yes I think he will definitely be bigger. Probably more like 80 pounds. Regardless, you love him and he loves you. :)

Definitely bigger.  A rule of thumb for standards is to double the weight at 4 months and add 10.  I think you are going to have a big boy.

..........My breeder ...... between 55 and 65.  Im thinking........  bigger.  Does anyone have an opinion?

Sorry but your last sentence made me laugh.  " Does anyone have an opinion?"

We have a lot of opinions around here. <-------

Anyway, back to the original question.  The answer is, " We have no idea"

If you have a weight from 16 weeks ( about 3 weeks ago) that may help you.

  • Take weight at 16
  • Double that weight

For example 25lbs X 2 = 50lbs

I'm thinking your dog has gained 4lbs in three weeks. So here is my estimate

40 x 2 = 80

You have a mixed breed dog. Your breeder was giving you an estimate.  She has no idea either.  They just grow.
Kind of like my sons.  Both were to be over 6feet and 210lb
One is 5'11 and the other is 5'5 and neither are near 200lbs
My dog stopped growing and settle in very skinny 52lbs for several years.  Now he is a perfect and mature  62lb winter weight,  but that did not start until he was 2

I would say bigger as well.  Annie was just around 30 lbs at 16 weeks, and is now 66 lbs at 8 1/2 months.  Our 16 week estimate would have put her at around 60 lbs, but I think she will probably be more like 70 - 75 once full grown.  You never can tell, but I would say you might want to join the monster doodles club.  With a mixed breed dog you can never tell what you'll end up with... If there are larger dogs in your puppy's genetic line, he has the potential to be bigger.  I would say he probably will be around 80+... He sure is cute!!

You might want to join the Heavyweights group. You will find a lot of people and weight comparisons there.

Wow, he is going to be bigger then 55-65#

I think Charlie will be between 75 and 80 pounds!  He is so cute and a big boy he will be:)

Boris was exactly the same weight a couple of weeks ago when he was almost five months and I'm expecting about 75 lbs..... BIG lol

I didn't realize Boris would be so much bigger that Riley! Kona is 94 and Owen is 65 but the wrestle land run and play well together. Enjoy your big boy!

My vote is FOR SURE bigger than your breeder's estimate.  But in all fairness, they are just guessing.  My Charley is in the 56# range and he's 13 months.  He's always been tall and skinny. At 15 weeks he was 23#s so the formula joanne used is fairly close.

Our vet said 60-65lbs. She is 2 1/2 yrs old now and weighs 80lbs. More to love!

The 16 weeks weight x 2 plus or minus 10 #s has always been pretty accurate in my experience of the past 5 years of knowing doodles. So given that formula you are probably looking at 70-90 pds. But it's only an opinion. How big were the parents, do you know much about other litters of the same parents, if there are any? But it really is a guess. My Murphy is a slim 60 pds, but he has brothers who are 90 and 120#'s, so siblings aren't really going to tell you much either.
