Jackson has been sneezing and has a wet muzle for the last 24 hours. Sounds like he is trying to blow something out of his nose. He has not been his usual self. This morning we did our same am routine. He seemed a little distant sitting in corner all alone. When I put him in crate he started to howl and bark (completely out of ordinary behavior) . It seemed like seperation anxiety. I sat and sang him a little song to calm him and left for work. I came home for lunch and noticed he was stll sneezing a lot and face was still wet. I called vet and took him in. Vet said "maybe" respritory infection. I asked what evidence or how was he sure. He said he's not sure but we will have to do process of elemenation. I just have a gut feeling thats not it. And don't feel that great about giving him antibotics everytime he sneezes. Any suggestions? Signed Worried Doodle Mommy.

Did the vet prescribe antibiotics? I would think odds are it's viral anyway and antibiotics would not be indicated.
Yes nose drops and antibiotics. But banfield prescibes antibiotics lije they r going out of style. Just not convinced thats the answer.
I'm not either. Sadly Banfield is not likely to have the best vets, I think.

Yeah, same here. We used them for over a year and they seem to want to prescribe medication and science diet like crazy but give very little practical advice or care tips.

I think it depends on the location.  Our Banfield vet back home was great and didn't give us medications unless necessary and always discussed options with us. We have started going to a new Banfield since the move and I have had good experiences here too.

Wish we could find one like the first you used!

I would bath him incase he is bringing in an allergen from outside and then start him on
Claritin or benedryl for the sneezing. Make sure he has l lot of fresh water.
Perhaps you can get a second opinion? I'd gladly give you a vet recommendation of you would like. My friend lives in ladera and loves her vet.

I agree with a second opinion.  Hope he feels better soon.

I don't know the answer..it sounds like over treatment to me but I would find a vet more willing to help, you.

I know it might sound funny, but check IN his nose to see if he might have a piece of grass or other foreign matter.  Buddy was sneezing constantly for a half a day and I finally checked in his nose.  He had a flat piece of grass tucked up in the corner of his nose and when I pulled it out with a tweezer, I am not kidding, it was at least 4 inches long.  He must have been eating grass and sneezed it up into his nose.

Yes, my Gracie Doodle had the same thing.  Her's was a small tiny 1" long Mexican Feather Grass stem and seed.  We have those kinds of things here in So.California along with fox tails...both of which can get up the nose.  The vet had to put Gracie out and then scope around in her nose.  He had to really look and almost gave up but tried one more time and found it.  There are turbinator, nooks and crannies in those noses and it is really hard to find things.  A good vet who is just about certain there is a foreign object in there won't give up.  IMO I would use a different vet!
