Quinn is 9 mos. and acts like he is starving. We feed him a high grade kibble. Two cups twice a day. I worry that he may need more. There are some doggie treats now and then but not too often.

as long as his body weight is fine i wouldnt worry. if he seems thin, then increase the amount. i found that cooper ate more than the guidelines when she was a puppy (and was still skinny), but now shes an adult she eats less than the guidelines (and is getting a bit chunky!). some dogs will eat and eat even if they dont need it. my MILs dog was like that - always seemed starving as a puppy but her weight was perfect. as she grew up she seemed less food orientated.

I don't know what Quinn weighs, but the amount you feed varies with every food, sometimes by a lot. Depending on the formula, the same puppy might require anywhere from 2 to 5 cups a day It depends on how many calories per cup in that particular food.

We have tons of info on food and feeding in The Food Group, as well as a list of Recommended Brands.

Yes, if his body weight is fine, then nothing to worry about.  Some dogs would eat all day long if they could--mine would!

I have a neighbor with a fat lab. He always reminds me don't over feed my dog. He said he gave his dog a lot of food and treats and when he got older he wanted to eat more. Problem is now the dog is old and gets less exercise and he is getting too fat. I give my 60pd doodle 3 cups of blue buffalo per day. In between for training treats I give him apples, carrorts or blue berries. I keep a container with sliced fruits and veggies and a bone to keep him satisfied in between meals.

I have heard that the same amount of wet food is more satisfying.  My doodle is 2 1/2 & had surgery in January so is on restrictions for activity.  It is a struggle trying not to have her gain weight so to keep her happy, I give her wet food...and she only gets 2 cups per day.  Remember to rotate your proteins...one of the most important lessons I learned.  This will help them from becoming sensitive to one type of protein.  You do not need to give your dog dry kibble to clean their teeth.  Also, a steady diet of dry kibble for years also can create problems down the line.  Dr. Wysong has a book about the truth about dog food.  Also much information online on their site about dogfood.

Do they also have information about their recalls?

Canned food is not as calorie dense as dry food, so therefore, you need to feed more of it in order to supply the required calories. For a dog on restricted activity or who needs to lose weight, it's a great idea. But for a healthy active dog, you have to feed much more canned food than dry food to get the same number of calories. But a "topper" of canned food is a good idea.
