Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Okay, Doodle lovers worldwide(?) are we global yet?
Don't know
Must say the last time i did puppy training was 17 yrs ago...before any of my children were married and now i have 8 Grands..give you any idea how i have aged. This training is meant for the young, but i am determined.
i am curious how important and when should i start doggie day care. I am thinking it must be important b/c these doodles are known to be ...shall we say..active. I was always thinking doggie day care was for people who worked etc...Can someone illuminate please
My husband, who will be known as Papa, from here on out & I brought home from Orlando to S.E. Fl. a 3 lb petite doodle
i know some of you may be wincing..but that's what the breeder said she will be. Apprx. 12-15 lbs.
She's mighty cute and gotta say beats the smarts my Maltese ever had.At this point, even after 24 hrs. i'm worried she may be smarter than me!
She slept thru the night in a small travel kennel, that the breeder absolutely advocated for. She was very against a crate for her pups at this point. So far, she's dead on accurate. I'm not sure if she whimpered at all or not...after 7 hrs in the car i was out cold.
She ate almost nothing yesterday & drank maybe 2 cc's of water...so that might be how she made it through so long...b/c today she is peeing every 35/45 minutes. She is doing a good job of alerting me though by whimpering.
she already knows a treat comes with going pee..However, the two i bought she is so/so about..any good suggestions i am all ears.
She's on Acana wild prarie and i of course kept her on it. Breeder never mentioned a treat name.
Well, i am glad to finally be an official member of the clan..and i look forward to getting lots of advise, consulting & praise..when need from this Wonderful site!!
thanks in advance to all

We are definitely global. Glad to hear thing are going well. Zuke's minis are tiny, very good treats approved in our food group.
The Chinese melamine recalls were in 2007.
Zukes was not affected and I highly recommend their treats.
She's adorable! I didn't start Daycare until they were around four months and were finished with all their shots. We're retired, but we still do Daycare for socialization. We started with once a week (which I think is fine for most dogs) and then increased to twice. You'll want to be really careful in selecting your Daycare....some are better than others. I would visit and be sure you're comfortable with what you see. I would also not send my guys anywhere that did not do a "prescreening" to test for behavior issues.
Zuke's treats are healthy and my puppy loves them.
Just saw the photo. She is so cute!
She is adorable. She is such a tiny girl that in my opinion you can provide her exercise needs just by playing with her yourselves. Once she has had her shots, take her everywhere you can think of so she can see, meet, and greet. We made sure to go to strip malls with lots of coming and going. We took walks by schools at dismissal time. We walked by traffic, across railroad tracks, in parks with lots of activity, and so on.
Congratulations, what a cutie. I keep a bag full of Meg's kibble in my pocket, the same thing she eats for meals, and that works for treats for potty and such. When we work on tricks and training she gets much better treats but the kibble has always worked for potty in the yard, when she comes back in she gets a teeny, tiny milk bone treat.
sooooo adorable, what a sweet little face! She will have to have all her shots, including bordatellla, before she can go to daycare. I think it will be at least a few months. We are starting this week at PetSmart.
We also give our boy Zuke's mini treats and also cut up cheese into tiny cubes for training. Karen says Zukes are good, so that works for me! Just using his kibble for potty rewards is probably fine, as suggested above. Keeps her diet simple in the beginning
Enjoy her! She is a love
It's very important not to introduce any new foods for at least two weeks after a puppy comes home, for multiple reasons. Stay with the same food, and either ask the breeder what treats she gave, use pieces of kibble, or boil some plain chicken breast and use tiny pieces of that for rewards/treats.
