So, Izzy has not been keeping her food in again. She has had so many antibiotics of all kinds. We starved her yesterday then fed her this morning and she pooped everywhere within seconds. Scooped the poop along with her and went straight to the vet. We looked in the microscope and she has do much bacteria in her poop! The vet has never seen anything like it. This is after flora and everything else. Izzy is loosing weight fast and I am beside myself with worry for her.

Prayers going out for this sick pup. I hope they find the answer soon. Hugs.

Im so sorry to hear she is still not well.
I think Ginny & Jane have some great advice.

I hope she is much better very sonon!

Lisa, I sent you a PM with a link to JD's specialists center. It's very close to you.

Hi Karen,
We have used the VSC before and that is our next stop should the vet (Dr. Shechter at North Shore Family Pet Centre in Northbrook) not be able to come up with a solution once we have a further set of bloods and Fecal checks back from labs.
Right now he has given her Proviable KP med kit.  Also, along with adding pumpkin to her meals I am adding Phsillium (1 tsp).
She has such a strong spirit and is okay in herself.  I however, am like a mother with a newborn!  Up every two hours and showering with a puppy in the early hours of the morning is reminding me how torturous sleep deprivation is!  LOL
Anything for our doodles!!!
Thanks as always
Lisa

Sending prayers for Izzy.  I'm sorry to hear she's had such a rough time.   Hoping you get some answers very soon.

On the farm, when grampas animals were sick,it was boiled chicken and rice. Sometimes we used boiled hambuger but the chicken is the best. It always got our animals well. Sometimes OLD remidies are the ones that work. Sure hope she gets well...

Prayers and Stanlee hugs to Izzy, I hope a diagnosis is found soon and proper treatment does wonders.  Hang in there, we're here for you!

Poor Izzy.  Best thoughts going out to you and Izzy.

Ditto.

Do you have a food scale? I feed woody (who is 60lbs)10 ounces of chicken breast a day, along with 24 oz sweet potatoes.. I split that up into small meals throughout the day.. I was going to mention trying chicken/sweet potatoes instead of rice

aw hoping Izzy gets better soon xo

Regarding the amount of chicken breast to feed, you need to have a rough idea of the dog's calorie requirements when feeding a homemade diet. You can get an idea by calculating how many calories he's getting from his kibble; check the calorie content of the food and multiply by the number of cups he usually eats per day. For medium sized adult dogs, you can also do a rough calculation by multiplying their weight times 25, assuming they are at a healthy weight. (But that doesn't work for puppies). Larger dogs need fewer calories per pound, and small dogs need more, so the range for an adult doodle might be anywhere from 15 to 30 calories per pound of body weight.

Here's a tool you can also use: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-feeding-tips/dog-food-calculator/

One cup of boiled white meat chicken breast contains 200 calories. One cup of cooked white rice is about the same. For those using sweet potatoes in place of or in addition to rice, there are about 250 calories in a cup of mashed sweet potatoes. I use a 50% chicken and 50% carb mixture, but many people use a one-thirs chicken two-thirds carb proportion.
