Trav is an urban dog, so doesn't encounter many dead things that might trigger his 'roll in it' instinct.  The few dead birds, rodents or fish we've found haven't appealed to him.  He'll sniff the corpse, then seem to shrug and move on.

Tonight he found something that triggered the instinct.  I gave him a Cod Liver Oil softgel, and after picking it up, dropping it, nosing it around for a while, he started to lie down and roll on it!  Yikes!  This is human grade stuff!  LOL

What has your doodle found worthy of rolling on or in?

This past Christmas while at my parents farm, I found the doodle rolling on a dead rotting skunk. Oh my word that was one stinky dog and bath...I barley made it through!

Yucky, yucky!  I do believe Ricki of Ricki and Tara is something of an expert on skunk deodorizing.  Hey, a person's gotta be the best at something, right?  lol

Well Cathy you most definitely WIN for the most stinky and yucky list of stuff to roll in.
I think it would be unimous that no one want to bring there doodle to explore at you house, unless maybe you have the hose and soap all ready to go !

Sheila come on and join the country fun.(insert bouncy smiley)  I have soap for just about everything..sensitive skin, curly hair, detangling, conditioning, waterless, soap free, fragrance free, holiday smelling, extra concentrated blends and many different products for skunk smell removal.  I'm a sucker for a good add campaign for the latest greatest thing in shampoo :-/ (insert googly eyed bouncy face)

I love your emoticons Cathy, they look just like mine! (insert thumbs up)

Cathy, I was reading through and was going to wait until the end but I ditto what you just said.

My dogs, not only doodles have rolled in everything and anything you could possibly think of and alot of things I can't even identify by smell or sight.

The skunk thing is amazingly true. Bentley and Porsche took turns rolling in one place and I couldn't even see anything there, but when they were done they sure smelled like skunk. The worst part was, I didn't smell it before they rolled.

Of all the rotten smells my guys have proudly worn, skunk has been the WORST.  It is SO difficult to get rid of.  Fozzie was sprayed 2 times in one week (yes, I did smell the air before letting him out and the skunk wasn't present then).  I used Nature's Skunk Removal, and many of the above mentioned shampoos AND took him to professional groomers twice, all within as 7 day period!!!  A month after being sprayed we competed in an obediance trial. It was held inside a pole building on a cool rainy day and to my embaressment the skunk smell came back, not strong but you could definately tell it was skunk!

Yikes!  Sure hope Trav never finds a skunk, or any tiny bit of a skunk.  I remember coming into a friend's kitchen one time and seeing her bathing her miniature schnauzer in the kitchen sink.  The little dog had a canned tomato on his head and was drenched in canned tomato juice.  Seems little dog had gotten skunked and friend heard tomato juice would help with the smell, but all she had was canned whole tomatoes.  It's a sight that will always remain with me.  :)

My dogs were rolling in something today.  When I went to see what it was, this is what I found.

EWWWWWWW! What is that???

I am not really sure.  I found a dismembered deer leg with hoof in the same area so I am guessing a baby deer?  Do deer have fangs like that??

No, Linda, deer don't have fangs.  LOL  Was it a big thing or a little thing?
