Going to be a long day!

So I dropped Quincy off at our local groomer this morning.  He will spend the morning at their "day care" and get his first real hair cut this afternoon and I will pick him up after work.  He is starting to get matting around his collar and belly, despite my attempts to keep him brushed.  His undercoat is much more wiry and it is really starting to fill in on his back, under his soft and very long puppy hair.  I think I will have a different colored chocolate doodle by this afternoon.  The undercoat is much, much lighter. The groomer said that it will get more and more difficult to keep him mat free now that he has that undercoat coming in and so they will use the longest blade on his body but scissor cut his legs, paws and tail.  

I am not ready for this, but knew it was inevitable!  He sleeps on the tiled bathroom floor as it is, so I am guessing he will be more comfortable, too.  Here's hoping!  The shop has a great reputation and they have always done a good job on his face trims.  I guess his days masquerading as a gorilla are doomed, for now at least!

I'm sure he will have a great day at Day Care and then get a beautiful cut and be a "new" Quincy!   I remember when I took Libby to the groomer for the first time. I was a nervous wreck, she did great and came home all proud and happy:)

Lori, Quincy will be more comfortable. Fudge mats, too, but it seems to be less as she gets older.  Just keep telling yourself it is only hair :) Post after pictures. Because of Vern's rolling and my non grooming issues :) I keep them shorter and have grown to love it. Good luck!

our guy is a bit more poodly and wiry. he needs to be dried and combed when wet, or his curls kink up and matt. the groomer clips him to a 3 or a 4 now. anything longer and he inevitably needs to get shaved.
