Finished the sixth book by Diana Galbaldon and have to admit that I don't know what I am going to do at 3:00 in the morning now. I have a habit of only sleeping about 5-6 hours and when I wake up I know I will not be going back to sleep so I get up and read for a couple of hours, then go back to bed and get a couple hours more of sleep. Diana's books have been my night-time companions all year.
Thanks, Carla, for the suggestion of another author - Deborah Harkness. When I take the last Galbaldon book back to the library, I will get the books by Harkness. I love time travel and historical fiction, so these sound perfect to me. BTW, I read my first Galbaldon book on my iPad, but then started getting them at the library. When the first one was 100 chapters and I saw it was 700 pages, I just found library books worked better for me. I still get lost sometimes on my iPad and was spending way too much time looking for my place in the book. Shorter books work much better for me.
Anybody else Diana Galbaldon fans? I thought we should have a new discussion because the What are you reading now? discussion was getting pretty long.

Yep, love them both.
Just read Deborah Harkness "Shadow of Night" for a second time and it was a good as the first time. Can't find the third book, although it is supposed to be a trilogy. I think I will start rereading Diana's books also. I enjoyed them so much the first time. And wasn't Kate Morton supposed to have a third book also. I will have to check it out on line. Can't believe there are no book stores around here, and the free library has limited resources. I have some books on my iPad but I really prefer to have the book in hand.
So, I was looking through Amazon for historical fiction and time travel books and this author's books looked interesting so I put two books on my Kindle wish list. I mentioned them to my SIL who proceeded to read them rather quickly!! She LOVED them!!!
The author is L.L.Muir and the titles are Going Back for Romeo and Not Without Juliet. It says Scottish Time travel. They are the Muir Witch Project Series. I haven't read them but if my SIL liked them I know I will!!!
Great, now I have some new books to read. I will check out those books by Kate Morton and L.L. Muir. I tend to read everything by an author and then move on. Too much violence in the Lee Child books for me, but I like his style. I have also read everything by Dean Koontz and those books are really to my liking, especially the Frankenstein and Odd Thomas series.
Lynda, "Whispers" sounds really fun, I will look that one up, thanks! Carla, I made a note of L.L Muir too, thanks for the tip!:)
This author isn't exactly time travel but her thoughts go back in time.....Susanna Kearsley. I just finished The Winter Sea and started The Firebird. If you decide to read these start with The Winter Sea because part of the story continues on in The Firebird. I am really enjoying her writing style.
Got it. Just finished Kate Morton and need something new. Re-reading Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness and the new Koontz book, Deeply Odd.
Just finished another Koontz book, Innocense, and it was okay but not one of his best. I think I have read about 75% of his books and usually really enjoy them. Love the Odd Thomas series and the Frankenstein series. I guess I just really like series. I get attached to a character and want to read more about them.
Well, it is time travel Carla, at least by my definition. I started with The Rose Garden and am loving it. It is an easy read and welcome after all the Gabaldon reading. It's nice just to watch someone else's rendition on television. I am definitely hooked. Read all the book twice and am now watching the series twice also. Once is just not enough.
I think you'll like Susanna Kearsley's books, Lynda.
I've been away so just caught up with Outlander last night and am lovin' it. Did you know she signed on for Dragon Fly next year?
I'm in the middle of Deborah Harkness' Book of Life right now. Enjoying that too:)
What's next!!!!??
You mean they are making another series from Dragon Fly? Super. It could go on for a long, long time. Yes, I do like Susanna Kearsley, and look forward to reading her other books. Was The Rose Garden a good starting place? I know it got a little confusing with reading Diana Gabaldon's books out of order. Have you read the other Deborah Harkness books?
