Aaarrrrgghhhhhhhh. back from the groomers. Despite instructions she made him poodle-like , shaved portions on his snout. I am furious. His whole personality has been hijacked. He looks silly.

He is 5 months old. I cannot bear it. How long before he assumes his beautiful goldendoodle look. I am never taking him to the groomer again. NEVER

I'll bet this has happened to all of us...one time, entering the groomer, I looked at Baker & thought 'I sure hope that isn't my dog'...of course, it was...she shaved all down his snout like a poodle, took his beard & facial hair off, he looked AWFUL!

It grows...in a couple of weeks he'll look better & it just gets better from there :)  are you going to post a picture?  it's probably not as bad as you think...:)  as 'they' say...it's just hair & it grows...:)

Oh, Meera I am so sorry this happened, especially when you were so concerned to begin with.  One good thing, it grows back pretty fast!  It is definitely not the worst thing that can happen and your baby is beautiful no matter what!!  Don't go back there unless you have a long talk with them:)

The last groomer I went to ,I took pictures from the Doodle calender and she has been my last groomer. She cuts all of mine just like I ask. But it took a lot of groomers to find the One.   Good luck...

I'm so sorry that this happened. Many of us have had problems finding a groomer that will cut our doodles the way we would like for them to be cut.  Tara never came back looking like a poodle but she didn't look like a doodle either. Finally I said "Enough" and started grooming her myself. I don't do a great job but I still like my cut better then any cut she ever got from a groomer.  Please join us in the  DK Grooming Group for tips on how to educate your groomer or how to home groom.

And you will be surprised how fast it grows back! :)

Meera, I am so sorry and I know just how you feel. When my Murph was a year old the groomer we had gone to for a whole year cut him just like a schnauzer!!!!!! Shaved his ears and tail and left his beard. Most hideous cut ever. If you check my page there is a discussion about it. I am on my phone so can't link you to it.
The good news is that it does grow quickly and I am pretty sure Murph had no idea how awful he looked. Hugs to you.

Oh yikes, I would so hate that. Luckily it does grow back in the case of doodles. In other breeds you can totally ruin their coats for ever with a bad groom. I do my own and after two years of practice am pretty happy with the results. All it takes is the right tools and some courage. Oh and lots of great  advice from the grooming group here on DK.

Everyone,

Thanks so much for your kind words of support, understanding and encouragement. They really really made me feel better. So glad I found this group. My puppy is of course the same sweet boy and I still love him to bits.

I'm sorry this happened. There are good groomers out there but it can take a few tries to find them, much like finding a new hair dresser or trying a new shade of hair color (picture 1 is what I wanted - picture 2 is what I got) :-O. Your boy's coat will grow back. I like the idea of using calendar pictures as a reference to take to a groomer. At one time idog.biz had a very good explanation for grooming a doodle, not sure if they still do. Until it grows out you won't have to deal with mats:)

My groomer, who I love, shaved between Ned's eyes at his first cut.  I let her know that that wasn't a doodle look and she never did it again.  It grew out pretty fast.  He was in a doodle calendar with this face - shaved snout and all.Close up:

Adorable!

I am sorry but he looks so cute. Cooper got groomed yesterday and I am going to save this pic for next time. I hate the way they did his face.

Rebecca

I checked idog.biz has Doodle Do step by step instructions with pix
