This afternoon I noticed a long stringy mucus hanging from Lilly's bottom after she urinated.
I suspect vaginitis, before running to the vet any thoughts on something else it might be? And any suggestions for a homeopathic remedy? I hate to put her on antibiotics, yet again.
Otherwise she is eating drinking and playing normally.
Thanks

I just discovered a cool new product made with Oregano Oil and Olive Oil. From the advertising it just about does everything but take your dog to the vet itself. I tried it on a mild ear infection and poof...it was gone. www.oregapet.com

Thanks Barb, I'll look into that
This looks like great stuff.

This sounds too good to be true. Here is one review based on fact not hype:

The fact is some mild ear infections will be cleared up with a good cleaning.

Sadie has had this twice. I did bring her to the vet to be sure she didn't have a UTI. It was vaginitis, she had hair that needed to be clipped in the area, and all the licking did cause a infection. The first time she was on antibiotics the second time was not bad and she didn't need them but still had her checked for a UTI. Hope she feels better soon.

I think you used good sense in having the vet check her for a UTI, Mara.

You can't treat something, homeopathically or otherwise, if you don't know what it is. Your dog needs a urinalysis. Once you know whether or not there is an infection present, you can choose to use antibiotics or not, but you really need to know what you are dealing with first. Personally, I would not play around with urinary tract issues, they can be serious if left untreated.
