I have two really strong chewers and just discovered "Antlerz" advertised on the Orvis dog site. They are pretty much what they sound like. Naturally shed, sterilized deer antlers cut into 4" lenghts. Has anyone tried them?

Yes, I have - My Koji has allergies and I couldn't give him beef and was at a loss as to what to give him, to satisfy his chewing. I tried these - they are VERY hard, last a long time and can staisfy that chewing urge - but they are not flavorful, like a marrow bone.

I can't say enough great things about anterz- we get ours at a natural pet store by our house. It's all we buy now- my dogs love, love, love them!!! they chew on them for hours.

I was wondering about these...I emailed Orvis and explained that our dog can chew through just about anything. With that, they recommended against Antlerz, saying that although they don't splinter, he might be able to bite off small pieces that might cause choking. Do you think they are simply protecting themselves or have any of you found this happening? I have used Nylabone (large) for strong chewers and his chewing does cause rather sharp pieces to stick out that cause his gums to bleed a bit.

Just bought these today from Orvis. Will let everyone know how my Winston likes them and if there are any problems. The only issue is the cost! However, when I looked at local holistic pet stores, they ran out of them because they are so popular with pets.

We bought antlers after Finn almost devoured his Nylabone (what are they made from - plastic?) I've never known Antlers to splinter or chip. If you like Antlers, try raw elk or bison bones from the deep freeze at the pet store.

Cooper loves antlerz, but I cannot find them anywhere around here. Only on the internet. Anyone know where to buy them in the Chicagoland area???
