Is anyone making an Amazon purchase soon? Can you do me a favor?

Hi there,

I am doing some testing on our Amazon affiliate links (where we earn money to support DK).  We are optimizing our links so that they earn more revenue for us and for Doodle rescue organizations.

Is anyone making an Amazon purchase in the next few days, I'd like to test something with you.  I'd need you to use a very specific link to Amazon and do it .

Here's what I'd like you to do for this test:

1. Don't go to amazon.com for over 24 hours
2. Click on this link (it will take you to Google News):  http://go.doodlekisses.com/azontest
3. Type into your browser amazon.com.  (Don't come back to DK and click on any amazon links including this one -- TYPE amazon.com into your address bar.)
4. Make your purchase as normal
5. Let me know what you purchased (you can send me a PM if you want.)

We can try it for all types of Amazon products: new books, used books, instant video, whatever.  Thanks so much for your help!

Clark, does the type of purchase matter? I buy amazon instant videos for my daughter all the time. I can log in and buy one at any time. If this type of purchase will work for what you need let me know, and I'll do it for you. It's a very small purchase amount though- if that matters ($1.99 per video)

I purchase books from the used book section on Amazon all of the time.  I would LOVE to purchase another book.  Just let me know if that is the type of purchase that would work.  I always use the dk Amazon link but wonder if you all get the credit or not because nothing is ever noted anywhere when I log in.

Thanks F!  Your purchase was helpful and gave an unexpected result.  It sent a commission to us tagged with the normal tag from DK.  I was expecting to see a different tag with this new link.

But I have a hypothesis:  if a person has been to amazon within 24 hours from an affiliate link, a different affiliate link will not 'steal' that commission.  It will still be earned by the first referrer within 24 hours of the purchase.

So I have updated my instructions to include "Don't go to amazon.com for over 24 hours".

Sorry for all the hoops we are making you testers jump through.  Thanks so much for helping us!

How convoluted if true. Anyway, I am hoping to buy nothing for a little while but that's usually a fruitless hope. Today I got 3 deliveries and just got back from buying some roses. Each purchase was essential : )

Any other Amazon orders?  Don't buy anything just for us... but if you are making an order, doing this testing is sure helping us optimize the Amazon commission program.
