My husband and I both sleep with one pillow - always have.  My kids (now 13 and 14) sleep with 2 - started when they were very young when they each asked for a second one.  I can't imagine sleeping with two; doesn't it make your neck ache?  So my question is, do you sleep with 1 or 2?  Any ideas why people choose 2 over 1?

I sleep with 0 to 1 pillow.  0 if I sleep on my stomach.  1 if I sleep on my side.  And my pillow is really smashable.  Well...if you count a pillow between my knees...then 2 sometimes when I sleep on my side.

Adina,

Did you start the pillow between the knees when you were pregnant and now it is a habit?  Or did you do this before the pregnancies?  I know that is when I started this habit and I just never broke

I think so.  But I only sometimes use one between my knees.  Depends on how I feel.

I usually sleep with one, but I started sleeping with 2 a while back when I had a cold (to elevate my head, easier to breathe) and I just kept using it.

I sleep with one under my head and one propped up behind it against the headboard. Quick to grab if I'm too warm and need a cool pillow. Must be down filled also. :)

I think the firmness and fill of the pillows has a lot to do with it.

I agree.  My kids sleep with one firm and one soft. The best of both worlds.  Mine is medium and my husbands is a very squishy feather.

I sleep with one because it is firm.

I imagine those who sleep with TWO under their head are back sleepers.  Everyone in the movies is a back sleeper, it seems, but I'm always amazed that anyone in real life is a back sleeper.  I can't get comfy that way.

Nope, I sleep with two and I am a side sleeper. But I have very soft down pillows.  I couldn't do it with two firm, polyester filled pillows, that would hurt my neck.

And when I'm propped up reading in bed, I may use three or four, of differing firmness and fills.

That's why I'm saying, whether you are comfortable with one, two, three or more pillows depends on what kind of pillows they are. There are gel pillows, memory foam pillows, synthetic fills, down, feathers, down/feather combinations, and within all of those, there are still varying degrees or firmness. It depends on the weight of the fill and other factors.

Definitely not a back sleeper, but sleep with two or more pillows!

Love pillows!  Definitely two, but sometimes more:)   I am a pillow person:)
