Has anyone used this product? Says it last up to 8 months - can get wet - has no odor.  Bayer is offering a $20 rebate on it.

But you can bathe your dog a few days after applying Frontline, and I am sure that gets rid of any chemicals on the surface. It's not getting all over your furniture, bed, other pets mouths, your hands, etc and isn't right there in the air. I am sure it's present internally, but at least exposure externally is limited. I thought it ended up in the bloodstream, and that was how it worked. The oral forms of flea & tick preventatives do.

Just read the website info, it's supposedly stored in the oil glands.

Yes, it gets into them via the hair follicles I think. It has something truly awful, possibly toluene, so it becomes fat soluble.

The active ingredients in Fronntline Plus are fipronil and methoprene. But the packaging doesn't say what the inert ingredients are, and those make up 81% percent of it.

Where else but DK? It s true that i  posted this from somewhere else but I remembered we had discussed this and I had found the ingredients. Look down the page.

So here we are back at the same place where we end up every time flea/tick stuff gets discussed. It's all poison, it's all horrible, but the alternatives, for me, are worse. So I guess it's truly a case of picking your poison. Going without flea preventatives is not an option for us, nor are the "alternative" methods.  My personal choice has to be going with the tried and true; I've used Frontline on JD since I got him, and on two other pets previously. None ever had a reaction. Nobody in my house ever had a reaction. Nobody ever got fleas. The product has been around a long time, one reason JD's dermatologist recommends it.

It will be interesting to hear how this collar works, from those who do choose to try it.

My thoughts too.

So true, choosing the lessor of two evils - when both are pretty evil - I couldn't find Bayer's site regarding Seresto - only websites selling the product.

This is anecdotal, but here's a forum post from an owner whose dog supposedly had a reaction to the Seresto collar:

And for those of us with 2 doodles, the way they wrestle and play involves a lot of mouthing around the ears and neck and certainly the collar would get in their mouths as well. And them scratching around the collar, then licking paws......just not sure about this method. Yes, more research is needed.

Not to get on a tangent here, but do I need to worry about Charlotte feeling all over Peri and Tacky and getting frontline on her?  It's inevitable - she wants to pet them all the time now and it's only going to get worse.

Not a tangent at all - I know I tell everyone in the house not to touch the doods where I applied the Frontline Plus for at least a day or two.  I always apply it at night before bedtime giving it some time to soak in & the hair to dry because Mac & Lucy play hard & that includes biting each other on the back. After two days I wash the area. I don't know how old Charlotte is but I for sure would wash her hands after touch Peri & Tacky.
