Who's doodles have a microchip? I've heard that some microchips cause cancer and then I've heard that some are safe. Thanks!

Both of my guys have them and I wouldn't have it any other way.  I don't keep collars on them while they are in the house and if they somehow got out and were lost, the only way they could be identified is with that microchip.

Like Amy, my boys don't have collars on at home. But even when they do have colars on when we are out and about, I still want that extra assurance that if they slip out of the colar or someone takes it off (don't want the think about this too much), my guys can be found and identified.

My two have chips. I haven't seen good evidence that there is a problem with them.

We are planning on getting our 4 month old puppy the microchip at our next vet appointment this weekend.  Our vet said they can insert the microchip kind of like an injection and therefore not needing to put the dog under anesthetic, whereas if you are doing the ear tattoo the dog definitely has to be sleeping (so we will probably do that at a later date when it coincides with another procedure needing her to be put under).

Trav has a microchip, and like somebody else mentioned, he doesn't wear a collar inside so if he got out and got lost the chip would be the only way to identify him.  Same thing is true if we were on a trip and he lost his collar.

Halas has a microchip.  The vet injected it at the same time he was neutered, so he was under.  It worked out well.  I've heard of a few dogs being reunited via their microchips after years of being missing.

I think it's a good idea to have the doodles chipped. Both of mine are. They got the chip while being neutered. I have the vet's office check the chip periodically since I read that sometimes it can "travel".

It's the only way to make sure they get returned when lost. We have a no collar policy at our house, but even if they have collars when they are lost, the collars might slip off or someone can take them off. With the microchip (and keeping your contact information current) I feel I have done everything I can to get the babies returned after they are found.

Both of my boys came already chipped.  All I had to do was register with the companies. I get the vet to check periodically to make sure they can still be read. Be sure to follow through and register your pup with the company as it's no use just getting the chip put in if  the number can't be traced to you.

I also put on the boys tags that they are neutered and chipped. I hope it may be a deterrent to anybody contemplating stealing them (G-d forbid)

All three of ours are chipped when they were 7 weeks old. Heaven forbid one of them gets lost but this would help if the unthinkable should occur.   I've not heard of issues but will be on the lookout.

My "2" are Microchipped!! I also Never heard of issues. Makes me feel safer knowing they have them!!

Well Rosco DID have one...but at his last check up I asked them to scan him for it (finally remembered!) and it was nowhere.  So we'll see if we do it again.  Not sure.

It is my understanding they can migrate some distance and be hard to find.
