2 Males or a Male and a Female?

OK - I'm sure that some will think we are crazy. We just got Casey 3 days ago and have decided to add another puppy to our home. Casey is trying SO hard to play and doesn't have anyone to play with him. Our dachshund are too old and set in their ways to play and the cat just slaps him or spits!  We have the option of a black male with a very wavy coat, or an apricot female with a loose coat.  So - what do you think?  2 males or a male and a female?  (BTW - Casey is apricot with a medium wavy coat).

So far, suggested names have been  Clancy, Baxter, Bailey, and Sammy.  I think Clancy and Bailey are leading right now. Who knows - something totally new may pop up when we see him.  His "kennel" name has been Paxton.

These are all great names.  I especially love Bailey but Clancy & Casey have a nice ring to it.  When my kids suggest names, I always say them out loud, as if I'm calling the dog in for supper, to see if it is a good fit.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Casey and Baxter has a good ring to it, too.  But whatever you name the pup....CONGRATS!!!  How exciting!  Can't wait to see pictures and, glad you got the black pup - not that I'm partial or anything.

Ha Marnie. If little mister "no name" is as cute as Stanlee, it won't matter what we name him!

Thanks Adrienne. Seems like you and I can on board about the same time. I am so glad we have our baby (babies in about 2 hours!) and don't have to wait. I'm sure that the waiting is killing you. But I promise - it will be worth it! However, right now, my little critter is all needle teeth when we hold him. My husband keeps saying, "you only bite the ones you love." Man, he must REALLY love me! I seem to be so much better than his dozen chew toys. :)

I like Casey and Clancy. Bailey has gotten so popular now. We have "2" Baileys on our block and they are Both females. I like it more for a male!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You are brave to have 2 puppies at once but I totally understand. I live with 4 - 2 are mine and the other 2 belong to my adult girls who moved back in with us. Samantha is 5, Charli and Mickey are 4 and Niña is 11 months old. It is never boring around here! 

I know what you mean about 1 just not being enough. They are all so different but at the same time so alike. 

I would suggest that their names not be so phonetically close. It make is hard for them to distinguish who you are talking to.
