Theo had his neutering done today and poor Baby Bear isn't handling it well at all! My pet sitter is also the vet tech so she was the one that handled all the surgery stuff and the anesthesia. She said he did really well in surgery and she kept the anesthesia very light so when they were done and taking the tubes out he was already waking up. I went to visit him at lunch to find his face bright silver. They spray him underneath to see if he is licking-he was :(. so I came back at 2:30 to pick him up and she said he was good to go and seemed to have quit the licking.
When we got home though he became obsessed with it to the point where it began bleeding! So off we went back to the vet to get more glue put on to hold the incision together and a Cone of Shame :(
Well-the only cone they had would have fit a St. Bernard, so they found this BiteNot collar that he came back home with. He just isn't a happy boy :(
I gave him a tiny bit of Benadryl-they said it was okay, to help him relax and rest and it seems to have taken effect, or he is just exhausted.
Nothing is ever easy...

Oh sweet Theo. It will be okay.
It's just hard to see them not happy. Somehow we got away with not using the cone of shame with Monty. Now that I think back, I'm surprised that he did not lick since he is so obsessive now. However, it still did not go smoothly since the sutures that were supposed to dissolve did not do so. That's when he started to lick until the spot was bleeding. They pulled the remaining sutures manually and all was well.
Fortunately for me, I did not have to witness Auggie's sad face after the procedure. He had an early neuture while he was still at the breeder.
Theo should feel back to normal in a couple of days. The worst part is to follow the "smart" advice of the vet: "Keep the puppy calm." Yeah, right. The words puppy and calm somehow don't go together.
Aw poor baby. Sleep well tonight Theo!
Put some boys underwear on him. At least then, you have a double chance of catching him if he does get close. I swear by the underwear trick. Besides Benedryl did they give you something for pain to give him? That certainly might take the edge off.
Well at least try the underwear or shirt technique. What are you going to do while you are sound asleep? I am surprised you haven't already! Does he shred material and eat the it?
Right, but the point was, if he licks the shirt first, he isn't hitting/ getting to that incision, for one. Two, it buys you some time to notice.
I know you know all this though. Good luck
He is so stinkin' cute though. I hope he feels better soon.
Theo is sooo cute! Hang in there, little guy.
Poor boy :( I sure hope he's feeling better soon. My boys bounced back pretty quick so I hope Theo will also.
Poor guy! I hope he feels lots better tomorrow.
Oh poor Theo!!! I'm sorry he is having such a hard time.
