Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Doodle owners,
I have a quick question! I have gotten a few opinions on when to switch Luke over to adult food or mix puppy food with adult. The vet and breeder told me at 4 months 1/2 and 1/2 but petsmart told me puppy food for the first year. I have Luke on science diet puppy one food. Please help!
Thank you,
Emily

Emily, You can do a search in the Food Group and probably find your answer. The Food Group is a wonderful resource and has a recommended list of foods. Good luck!

I think that after you read the recommended foods in the food group you will definitely switch brands (slowly). Whether you switch to adult or puppy is actually a secondary issue.

Nicky completely.

I second Nicky.

To go back to your answer, Willow is a standard goldendoodle and she stopped growing around 14 months of age. We were told to keep her on puppy formula until she's about 18 months, which we did, not because of the advice, but we wanted to think our baby was still a puppy. :) I really don't think it matters much.

Nicky has a good point... Please join the food group and learn about the high quality foods. I fed Shelby puppy formula until 1 year, then transitioned to adult.

My vet said to never take them off puppy food before one year old. He stated that it is key to bone development.
