Does anyone have suggestions or thoughts on pet health insurance?

I just signed up for PetPlan today! YAY! I hope I did everything ok. That was intimidating. I tried to get some of the discounts that people mentioned in here but it didn't seem to do anything. Goldendoodle wasn't an option. I had to pick Mixed Breed and then Poodle Mix...
I went with the Gold Plan and the highest deductible with 90% reimbursement. Can anyone say if that was a good choice? I felt a little overwhelmed!

I signed up today as well. the code was Doodle. I got the $200 deductible, the 80% reimbursement and the Bronze. I paid for the year $241.00

Ok, it looks like I'm the only one who has had a negative experience with Pet Plan.

I guess it's bound to happen with any company.

In short, we filed 2 claims for sick visits and prescriptions and both were denied. The Pet Plan reps I spoke with were uncooperative over the phone and just repeated the language about pre-existing conditions. They did not adequately answer my questions.  They could not answer me whether they would approve future claims on the same condition, they said it could vary anywhere between 3 months to 2 years. I was looking for a more specific response.

The policy stated that you could cancel without penalty unless you had filed claims.  I took that to mean that was for when they had approved and paid out on claims. No... they wanted to keep the money because they reviewed our one page submittals and then denied them. That was really the final straw.

We decided to cancel the plan because there are plenty of other pet insurance providers out there to choose from.

We use VPI Pet Insurance.  We have used them for our last 3 dogs.  They process claims quickly and provide explanation on what was covered/paid.
