Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi all, just wanted to see if anyone has any good advice about adding another doodle to the family. We currently have a nine month old doodle boy who loves other dogs and loves to play with other dogs. Part of me says we are doing good, why get anothet but there is the other part that says one doodle isn't enough. Thought? Ideas? Upside? Downside?

Oh my, she is so adorable.  There is no way to walk away from that face.  I agree that two is better than one but that is a discussion for another day.  I am still waiting to get my first one on June 22nd.

How's your puppy adjusting. Haven't seen an update from you in a while. :)
Oh my goodness. A mug like that would melt any heart. She is SOOOO adorable! You will have a few sleep interrupted nights and a bit of chaotic times around the house, but I'm certain that it will be well worth it.

I struggle with this too. I've told myself I can't consider it until Charlie could pass the Canine Good Citizen test (could pass, not that we actually take it). Problem is, he's getting very close to be able to do those tasks and I may put off the commitment for another year or so- late summer is the best time of year for me to start with a dog due to a cyclical work schedule, and it's too late this year to start looking for another dog.

Also, the going rate for doodles 'round these parts is $2750... not that it's that different from $2500, but sheesh!

I think we will eventually get another, just hard since we both work long hours. I know- they would have each other!  I would like to rescue, but we have an electric fence and property that is just not suited to physical fencing.  I actually could talk my DH into it without much effort-but I would rather it be his idea!

Looking at the picture of that little sweetie, I would not be able to resist!

Update...Stella came home today. Whew! Even though Sparty is only ten months old, I forgot how much work a ten week old puppy is. I think the day went well, considering. Sparty is pretty nice to her, but goes through stages of barking like a fool at her. Any suggestions on how to handle that? I am trying to savor the time as a puppy, it does go fast. She ate and drank, didn't seem phased by a new family at all. Lets hope she sleeps tonight. Stella is peeing often. UTI is running around in my mind, but our vet wants to see if it is better tomorrow since she had a flight from Oregon, went to the vet and had a very excited family that wanted to spend lots of time with her. She is quiet in her crate now...I'm crossing my fingers. Say a prayer for us. :).

Congratulations and I love her name!  Enjoy puppyhood again and we are so happy for you:)

Thank you!

Congratulations!! She's gorgeous, love the name also.

One tip for you, be sure to find time every day for one on one with each of them - let older dog have your attention undivided for a bit and then rotate for puppy some one on one.

Smiling and sending a prayer (we may add #2 very soon)

I agree!  One Doodle is not enough, but unfortunately we have an "only" child!  LOL  Working on my DH:)

Oh, she is so cute.  I, too, believe that one Doodle is never enough.  I plan to wait for a year, if that is possible, LOL!!

Two doodles are easier than one. I never would have believed that. When our Gracie was 8 months old we got Lucy. Gracie basically taught Lucy everything she needed to know. They bonded and loved each other from the first day. They are hysterical together and we could not ask for more loving wonderful dogs. I highly recommend two. They keep each other company and love to play together. I hope you do get another one. You will never ever regret it.
