Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

After months of stalking this site, I finally took the plunge and joined because I'm going to be getting my first doodle. I am so excited, nervous and my emotions are all over the place. I'm not even sure if my puppy has even been born yet. I sent in my deposit to be put on the waiting list so it can be as soon as August or as late as October. I have been without a dog since October 2012 and I'm so scared to begin the whole process of training and adjusting to a new baby, yet at the same time cannot wait. I'm also a little worried that I'm going to compare my new puppy to my sweet girl Ginger who I lost in October. Thanks for letting me ramble, I feel comfortable doing it on this site because I know how all of you love your dogs and are not rolling your eyes like a lot of friends and family do when I get on my roll of missing my dog and waiting for my new one.

Welcome to DK!!  I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  This is a great community, you will love it here.  I look forward to hearing all about your new pup.

Hi Linda - welcome aboard! I am relatively a newbie myself. 1 month ago, we adopted fraternal twin boys - Casey & Cody. Thankfully, we only had to wait for about 4 weeks, so I know the wait can be agonizing - but so worth it. Sometimes when I stand with hands on hip looking at the total mess they have made, I can imagine my departed angels telling me to enjoy their youth!! As hard as it is to lose a beloved pet, our heart is always ready to create additional space for new ones.

So nice to have you in our Doodle Community Linda and looking forward to meeting your Doodle soon!

Wlcome!!!  Sorry about the loss of Ginger.

What kind of dog was ginger?
Ginger was a 51 pound, creme colored standard poodle. That is her picture on my profile page.
Ginger is precious !! I'm so sorry for your loss. i have never lost a dog before but I know I will have the same concerns as you. I have a 12 year old terrier that is starting to slow down and not being as active as she used to be. It scares me bc i know her time is coming but at least both ginger and my kahlua knows the feeling of being loved as there are so many dogs out there that will never know that feeling. I'm sure the new puppy will bring you as much fun and joy as Ginger!
Thank you Heather. I'm so excited. Is that your puppy in your profile picture? That is exactly the one I want, she is beautiful. Is she and f1b?

Welcome to DK! How exciting to wait for your puppy.... While it is so hard to lose a beloved dog who was on your side for years, ( I lost my old Chow almost 2 years ago at age 16 1/2) We always have enough love for a new puppy.... So rry to hear about Ginger...

It's funny that you are worried that you will not love the new pup the same as Ginger.  My husband was that way with our first child.  He was worried he would not love the baby as much as his dog!  Well, that was silly.  It is scary and exciting at the same time, but there is no way that you won't just love the new little doodle.  Keep us posted and lots of photos please.

I am sorry for your loss of Ginger.  Congratulations for your new pup.  We have your back  when  you get the sleepless night blues.  :-}

Sorry about your loss of Ginger. When your baby arrives, you are going to fall in love all over again. It's fun and exciting and a big commitment, but well worth it. The first few months being the most challenging, but each day gets a little easier. It's amazing how quickly these doodles get into the program and schedule of your house. Can't wait to see your new baby.
