Cisco makes A LOT of noises... I find it really funny. It is normally when I am gone for a bit and then come home, he will make like little grunts and all sorts of different sounds.  Is this normal? Do your doodles make lots of noises? I'm curious if he is happy? sad? excited? telling me not to leave him again? :)

Also, if I try to mimic his noises, he makes them even more. Very funny!!

Thoughts??

Trav has his sounds--I love the one he makes when he wants me to do something--get a toy off the counter for him, reminding me that he wants to go outside--it's a small throat sound, most similar to a growl, but not a growl.  Love it!

Luca vocalizes in many ways but Calla does not.

I think you're right, Sandy. JD is very quiet, rarely makes any kind of noises when playing, chewing, whatever, and he's also a fairly submissive dog who is naturally a little shy. My last poodle, who thought she owned the world, vocalized all the time. When she was playing with toys, she sounded like Donald Duck, lol!

Luna is very submissive, but she is a VERY social dog.  I think it has more to do with being an introvert vs. extrovert and not dominance.  She will only vocalize with her family or her close doggie friends though and is much shier around unknown people/dogs.

Luna is a very vocal dog!

She greets us when we come home (or when she wakes up with a nap) with "RooRooooooo!" growling/howling sounds.  It's really cute.   She also makes "wookie" noises all the time (kind of like growling, but not threatening at all).

What I mean by Wookie noises starts here at 0:35 seconds   (This is when she was a puppy but she still makes similar noises).  I haven't been able to capture her howling because she stops when I pull out the camera :p

How Funny! we are trying to teach Trixie to talk Wookie

Too funny!

so funny!!

I love when Trixie 'Talks'
It is usually when she wants our attention or wants to tell us something.
She talks By 'Yawn' talking- Do others do this?
It can be very loud & Very long too! It is funny.
I cant think of how to describe the sound.

She also snorts- when she is excited & playing with us.
She is quiet otherwise...Rarely barks

Ned chortles as he runs around on the bed - every morning!  It is like  "Good morning World, if I am awake, people, you need to be also."  He also does this to greet us when we come home.  Clancy moans and goans as he plays with toys.  He is also the 'Mayor' when we are at doodle romps, barking at the other dogs when they get too interactive.

Zoe makes all sorts of sounds!  she squeals with delight when she's super excited especially when we have a visitor that she really likes, or when she gets so happy about a special treat.  She grunts when she's really tired while she lays out and goes to sleep and grunts more when she thinks we are being too loud while she's sleeping.  Funny thing is she's never growled at anyone or anything before in her life!

Luna sighs REALLY loudly if she's trying to sleep and we're talking.  It's really funny. :p  Sometimes she sighs super loud, then gets up and leaves to sleep somewhere else haha.
