Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey everyone, i'm about to take my little buddy Ziggy to get neutered tomorrow. He's a great dog, but definitely has a ton of puppy energy.
I just wanted to see if y'all noticed any change in personality after neutering your dogs. He's 6 months now and he's starting to have... how should I say... feelings for my girlfriend, ha. Hope it mellows him out a bit!

Exactly Sarah. That is what happened to my Alex. His rear leg bones continued to grow so much that they got too long for his height (although he was large Golden anyway). The legs began to bow...like a cowboys legs and pull out of his hip sockets. A little later, he was not able to jump up on the bed or even run easily. He slowed him down much earlier than he should have...but still enjoyed life.
I do believe the study was for large breed males.
Thank you all for your responses. I will do some research.

Proper development is why I waited to have Einstein neutered at ~ 11 months.
Cool. Good to hear that he should mellow out. He's been a bit rebelious lately.
Well, I took him in this morning, and i'll be able to grab him after work. Guess i'll be following a little conehead around for a week or so...
I did not even have to use the collar...the first night I watched him and distracted him and after that, with the "glue" sutures, he really did not bother it much.
good luck!
Wow! There's pretty much been an instant change in Ziggy since he was back from the operation. I know he's been pretty drugged up the past few days he's been back, but it seems like he's not nearly as nippy or puppy-ish, and I think it might be more than just the drugs doing that to him.
Maybe he is afraid of what else you will have snipped off him...just kidding!
