Bravo! of Manchester, Connecticut has announced it is voluntarily recalling three of its raw diet frozen foods for dogs and cats because they could potentially be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

Bravo! Dog Food Balance Line

According to the company…

“…while these products tested negative for pathogens by an independent third party prior to distribution, they were run on the same day or an adjacent day to a product that tested positive for pathogens.

“The product that tested positive has been 100 percent contained and is not subject to this recall.”

And thanks again.

Breeder’s Choice Pet Food of Irwindale, California has has issued a voluntary recall for a single batch of Active Care Biscuits - Healthy Dog Treats due to the presence of mold.

Breeder's Choice Active Care Healthy Joints Biscuits Dog Treats

The recalled product includes the following information:

  • Breeder’s Choice Active Care Healthy Joint Treats
  • Product Code/SKU/ Material #: BCP-080
  • UPC Code: 0130104895
  • Size: 24 ounces
  • Best Before Code: 19-Dec-2013

Products and product lots that do not appear in the above lists have not been affected.

According to a release from the manufacturer, the mold seems to have occurred due to varying dryer temperature settings for drying biscuits. This exposed the recalled product to excess moisture and has since been remedied.

Pet owners who fed their pets the recalled biscuits should watch for symptoms that may develop. Common symptoms associated with mold exposure include gastrointestinal issues such as loose stool.

Natura Again Recalls Innova, EVO, California Natural and Others

June 18, 2013 – Natura Pet Products of Fremont, Nebraska, has today announced it is voluntarily recalling specific lots of dry pet food because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recall includes specific lots of these brands…

  • Innova
  • EVO
  • California Natural
  • Healthwise
  • Karma
  • Mother Nature

No canned food is affected by this announcement.

Thank you, Veronica. This is the first I've heard of this, thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.

There is going to be panic in my IBD group again. :(

To all those who doubt that the sale of Natural Balance to Del Monte is going to have a negative effect on the products, Natura used to be one of the best dog food brands out there before they were taken over by Proctor & Gamble.

This recall and the one before has made me sick. We just finally figured out the ONE AND ONLY food that Bodhi can tolerate and it happens to be California Natural Grain Free Venison. :o( The recall before this.... we tried another grain free venison by Natural Balance and it did not go over so well... itchy ears, paw chewing and runny #2's. The Cal Nat seems to be the only thing that works for him and now they are saying that they wont even have something until August or later. I just sat at the pet store and cried looking at all the ingredients on everything else that I just new he couldnt tolerate! So we have gone to another extreme in dry foods and went with rabbit and potato from Natural Balance. So far so good but we will see. Anyone have any suggestions??

You could look at Rayne Clinical Nutrition; it's very expensive and you need an Rx, but it's top-notch quality.
