Thanks to Laurie, I taught Gracie to speak this afternoon.  Now we'll work on whispering. We're building our bags of tricks.  Gracie knows her left from right and can play the shell game.  I would love to hear what tricks your doodles know!

wow! awesome

This is Meg at 10 months, she hides her eyes much better than this but was a bit lazy this day.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahOTUBZa0Cg

She also knows to "find dad" or mom, go tell dad dinner is ready, I can tell her Take it do Dad (or Mom) and she will take what is in my hand and run to the person I tell her to and give it to them.  She knows to get her tab leash when she wants to go out and bring it to us.  She will 'pick it up' on command.  I must say there are so many other things you are all mentioning that I want to try now.  They really are such smart animals.  Eh-Eh is one of our most valuable commands but I had not thought to use it to slow her down when she wants to run through her list of tricks without waiting to be told which one, thanks for that idea.

Meg is so cute! I'm upset because I seem to be having trouble watching any youtube videos and there is no sound  :-(  I can't see the whole video, just the first few seconds. Looks like I have to call Apple...uuuuughhhh!

Meg is so cute and smart! Great tricks!!

I started teaching Millie right away, she knows quite a bit.

Sit

Down

Stay

Leave it

Roll Over

Spin

Walk backwards

Kisses

Touch (but she gently bites instead of uses her nose..grr)

Speak

High Five

Shake

Weave

Crawl

Stand (will only stand-up, but not stand still)

Take it

Come

Go to your room (gets in the kennel)

And, she fetches very very well, but doesn't like to give up the toy every time, or very quickly

I haven't taught her anything new in a few weeks.  I need to work with her from different positions - like when she's laying to sit.  (She's only 100% reliable when she's standing to sit).  I've tried to teach her to sit pretty, but she has like no balance for that one.  Also tried to teach her to cover her eyes, but no success yet.  I haven't tried to teach play dead yet because I want to teach her that from when she's sitting pretty.

Now, if only she had some better manners...and didn't pull on a leash.  I need to work with her more on that one.  :)

Daphne is a horrible puller on the leash! We definitely need a lot more work on that one. If I put a no pull harness on her she walks normally but she acts like I have hurt her feelings and she holds her tail down while walking.

I also tried to teach "cover your eyes". I saw a video that said to start by putting a small piece of rolled tape on their nose. Daphne didn't care at all that it was there. She never even tried to remove it so I don't know how to proceed with that one.

Awww!!!! I wish I would have started when Millie

Hm.. Luna can:  sit, down, stay, "play dead", give a paw, hold a treat on her nose, give kisses and knows how to search for someone (she taught herself how to air scent!).  She also knows "off", "take it" and "leave it" - those ones are very useful ;)

Love that she knows how to find someone! Millie doesn't hold a treat on her nose at all.  I've tried a few times and she doesn't hold still for that one.  I'll have to try when she's older again.

We didn't teach Luna that one until she was almost 2 and had mastered the "off" and "leave it" and had shown some self-restraint :p  SOMETIMES she can actually catch the treat as it's falling to the floor after it leaves her nose.  She's good at catching food in general though, she won't waste a morsel!

Can I have the treat now please!?

So cute! I guess I will try that one when Daphne is a little older.

The key is that she can NEVER get the treat if she lets it fall off or it accidentally falls off.  She has to only get it when you give the release command (for us it's "okay").  The same goes for "off" and "take it".
