Hi Jody,

Breeder recommendations and reviews are not permitted here in the forums. From the DK Guidelines:

Reviews of individual breeders do NOT belong in the main forum, blogs or groups or any public area of DK.  If you want to recommend your breeder, you may do so in our Owner Recommended Breeders group or invite your breeder to post an ad in our puppy sales groups (mentioned below) or make the recommendation privately (on a member's profile page or by private message). If you are seeking information on an individual breeder, please ask for private responses.

It's also very important to read the DK Guidelines on What to Look for in a Breeder. This article also has links to breeder resources such as GANA and the Owner Recommended Breeders Group.

Good luck in your search.

I went on line and viewed a couple in my sate.. perhaps start there ??

I wish we all could talk about breeders and such, just to get all the good info as possible.. just my 2 cents

odd because we can talk about any other stuff ?

There's a specific group for breeder recommendations that's open for anyone to join.

There is some history behind why breeder recommendations aren't allowed on the main forum.  I don't know the specifics of all of it, but there is a good reason!

The reason we chose to not allow breeder recommendations (and later reviews) is because enough people got their doodles from irresponsible breeders (with or without knowing it) that I did not want this site to become marketing for bad breeders.  And it also puts the person recommending the breeder in the line of fire.  It hasn't seemed to hurt to have this rule.

This rule has worked very well over the past few years.  It avoids many arguments on the forum.  We all either love our breeder or have learned that we got our dog(s) from an irresponsible breeder or one that does not quite live up to what is expected of a "good" breeder.

Also, as with anything else there are people that think one breeder is great and others that think they are horrible.

If some one want to find out about a breeder, they can look at different "groups" and the profiles of people that seem to be happy with their breeder and PM the individuals.

Remember many of the other "forums" are either owned or moderated by breeders (some very popular forums).  This forum has no allegiance to any breeder. (Thank you Adina)

oh ok .. are there other things we cant talk about here >?

The best thing to do is read the Help section listed up above which will help you learn more about DK, the guidelines, searches, etc. Many of the questions asked by the newest members have been asked and answered before and can be found by doing a search. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Have you read the DK guidelines? you agreed to them at the beginning but i realize it gets overwhelming. Often the fineprint gets overlooked but holds all the important info!! All of the specifics are I'm the guidelines.
You can find this information, left hand column towards the bottom.
We all love the fact that we don't have to weed through ads of bad breeders and unethical topics just to get to real discussions. If you don't mind this though, FaceBook has a few groups with terrible training methods and idiots looking to breed their 6 month old puppies :(
This site is just not like that.
Do refer to the guidelines I told you about for further and helpful info.
I see Karen already included the link in her response! Read all those!!

You can talk about your breeder and your experience purchasing/adopting a puppy/dog.  That's fine.  It's specific breeder recommendations/reviews we don't allow.  You MAY recommend your breeder in the appropriate group following the group's rules.  So it's not like you can't say anything.  We just want to keep the whole "I got my dog at XYZ Kennels--they are great!" out of the mix.  And as long as you're not attacking people, advertising your business, SPAMMING, or...trying to get advice about breeding your dog, no topic is off limits.  I don't think.

I have 2 doodles and had another one a few years ago that passed away.

#1 labradoodle came from a local-ish rescue organization.  Her owners were elderly and couldn't handle her energy.  She was relinquished to rescue at 11 months and we adopted her shortly after.  We lost Thule 3 years ago.

#2 labradoodle is 7 years old now and I purchased him from an out of state breeder.  After researching the mix, and what the standard was for good breeders I narrowed down my search to the breeders that bred the type of labradoodle I wanted.  Then narrowed it down some more to breeders within a day's driving distance.  The breeder I chose matched my needs, did all the health testing, seemed responsible and trustworthy so I put a deposit in the next planned litter and a few months later picked up my Rosco.

#3 labradoodle was adopted through rescue and through the help of volunteers flown to us 3 years ago TODAY! Woah..how cool is that.  Happy gotchaversary Boca!  Almost missed it.

Most people have similar stories and I'm sure would be happy to share HOW they got their labradoodle, except for the part where we list our breeders or make breeder recommendations.  Tell us about your search for a doodle and what has turned you toward this breed mix and what kind you are looking for.

You'd be surprised at some of the things we talk about here lol

Check: http://doodlerescue.org and http://www.idogrescue.com/ -- both organizations with doodles in need of homes and foster homes throughout the USA.  However, they each have rules about adopting out to homes with kids under 10 (I believe).  So depending on your son's age, you may or may not qualify.  They also both have some type of service to help you find doodles in rescue in area shelters unaffiliated with them.
