Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We have a group "Where's the Poodle in my Doodlle" - it might interest you.

My Meg is not very doodly looking. She is 14 months now and has a scruffy face and then a big ruff across her shoulders, wavy down her back and then wiry looking legs. She is actually a labradoodle but I sometimes think she looks more like a blond golden retriever, her papers came with her so I know she is lab/poodle but my mind says WHAT? On occasion someone will recognize her as a doodle but I think the vast majority of people expect to see the fluffy/curly ones. Genetics of a mixed breed, pretty hard to control. Meg was a rescue and we had no expectations on what she would look like. The great thing is they always seem to get that perfect doodle personality no matter what they look like and we love them to pieces anyway. If you click through the photo shows you will see a vast difference in a lot of doodles. Your pup has great face, would like to see a full picture of him.
Have a look at pictures of my Luna :)
She is an F1 mini goldendoodle. She looks just like a 35 lb. golden retriever and she's almost 3 years old.
Her only obvious "poodle" parts are her LONG, long legs and a little "mane" of curly hair around her neck.
I second Andy&Sharon's suggestion - lots of other "retriever-ish" doodles in that group.
Luna gets confused for a retriever, but then people get confused when they see how small she is, so they think she's a puppy. Sometimes people think she's a Duck Tolling retriever, but her head shape is wrong.
There are great perks to having a retriever-ish doodle - lots less coat maintenance and you can always see their beautiful eyes :)
Eyes? your doodle has eyes? lol...Both Luna and Jaxon are adorable!
Yes exactly ;)
I had a Bichon Frise growing up (SUPER curly) and I wondered how she could see her way around lol
Yup, they look pretty similar. :) Terrlyn's Hurley looks really similar too, except Hurley's coat is more red.
He's right around the time when his coat transitions to adult coat, so yes it will slow down. If his coat stays the way it is though, I would expect him to probably shed like Luna does. She sheds moderately all the time and has BIG seasonal shedding in Spring/Fall. We got a Furminator shedding brush that really cuts down on the tumbleweeds around the house during shedding season.
You're not alone! My Hurley is just like yours, retriever coat, small poodle body. Always mistaken for a duck toller.
I find Luna gets mistaken for a duck toller from the back, but not from the front ;)
