Has anyone's doodle had to have FHO surgery? My Goldendoodle Dazi is almost 7 months old and has been having trouble. I took her to the vet and the Dr did xrays and she has severe hip dyplasia. She is having FHO surgery on the right hip wednesday. The surgeon says this is the best thing for her instead of a full hip replacement. She is in a lot of pain and I hope this is going to help her. She will have the left side done after she has healed up from the right side. I sick with worry and wondering if anyone else has gone through this and how is the recovery for them. I hate this for my baby. I cant stand to see her in pain.

Hi Everyone, I just want to thank everyone again for all your prayers and support for me and Dazi. We got home from the Animal Hospital about 230pm today. Dazi is in a lot of pain. Just cries and cries and I just cry and cry for her. It is truly heartbreaking and nothing can be done. She has to wear one of those cones around her neck so she doesnt mess with her bandage. Its such a shame this baby has to go through this. The Dr says each day will get better and she will get stronger on that leg. They want to do the other hip in 4 to 6 weeks. How do you put this baby through this again. But they keep telling me after the healing she will be a new puppy with no pain.
If anyone is reading this who is considering getting a doodle. KNOW YOUR BREEDER. READ READ READ all the info on this site and the internet and find out all the information you can before you decide where to go get your doodles. NO baby should have to go through this.
I'm so sorry that you and Dazi are going through this Jennifer. Did they give her anything for pain? I hope that she will heal quickly and feel better every day. It will all be worth it when Dazi can run and move normally, free of pain. I know that others who have been through this would tell you that.
Hugs to you both.
Thanks Karen, They did give her some pain meds. She takes it every 8 hours. She is just on her bed crying. But the Dr keeps saying she will be good and pain free in a few weeks . Then just got to get her through the other side so she can be pain free. It so hard to see her like this. I am working on a letter to send to the breeder. I am so angry. I have to do something to keep this from happening to other babies.
When you have some time, read through some of Penny's blogs; her doodle Beemer had surgery for HD on both hips some time ago. Here's a link to her blogs: http://www.doodlekisses.com/profiles/blog/list?user=3mfockbv6ow3y
I think they will give you great hope. I know Penny would also be happy to share her experiences with you if you reach out to her. Be sure to read Beemer's Buns of Steel 1 Year Update!
Awwww... sorry this is so tough on her. The doodles here are wishing her a fast recovery.

I hope Dazi is feeling better this morning and not in as much pain! Sending hugs, love and prayers!
