Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone...Derbydoodle is almost 7.5 mo & apprx 10/11 lbs. she's a Petite dood...should not get larger than 15 lbs.
would like some recommendations on nice collar/comfortable & for prevention of all bad things..loss of hair, matting, irritation...She is on a prong collar so this would be to hold tags primarily
I'd enjoy a leash that would be comfortable in the hand & sturdy..stylish would come in the form of red in color or leather...plain..nothing twisted or with a pattern.
any advise would be appreciated
thanks in advance

I have very sensitive skin on my hands, a nylon leash just rips them apart. The most comfortable (for me) leash that I have found is the Good Dog Hemp Corduroy. It is very sturdy, comes in red, and variety of widths.

These New Earth soy leashes and collars are really soft and hold up well.

I will have to try one of these when she goes from her puppy to adult collar. I worry about matting under her collar.
I also like a sturdy collar. I once bought a faux leather collar for my parent's labrador retriever. I started walking with her, she jumped forward, and it snapped right in half.
I would not use a prong for id tags but only for walking. We use a rolled leather collar or a 'hydrocollar' i.e. waterproof collar. Neither one seems to cause much matting. Our leather collars are from whatever pet store we were near when we needed to buy. Our hydrocollars very cute with customized decorations. They are from http://www.hotdogsalldressed.com/. We used plain old leather leashes for training. The more you use them, the softer they get.
