So we are leaving Quincy for the first time as we head out to visit my son in DisneyWorld.  We have a nice woman coming in to stay with him, she obviously loves animals and was very attentive to the lists and instructions I gave her. There are post its and notes all over the house. She promises text messages and pictures and even likes a dog at her feet when she sleeps.  He should be fine...me?

I traveled extensively as a young adult, but honestly if I never had to leave my house again, it would be fine. My son however, had other ideas and guilted me into visiting him. He was not at all understanding of the fact that I did not want to leave Quincy and pulled rank as the #1 son.  He also poo-pooed the fact that I hate flying not so much for the fear, more for the damned inconvenience of it all these days. My DH, bless his heart, mostly does what I find myself doing, and for the most part smiles.

The bags are packed, the car service is coming, Quince and I went for a long walk on this gorgeous crisp morning and in a few hours I will get a hug from my people boy. Which is the best part.

Enjoy your trip! Once you are with your people boy and at Disney world, you will feel better and know it is worth it. I am like you, I could stay home, all day everyday and just be grandma and a doodle mom....but there are still lots of memories to make and we can't do them from our living rooms! Q will be fine, and so excited to see you, but since he doesn't know time, what is days to you could seem like hours to him.....and it sounds like he will get lots of loving!! Have fun.
Have a wonderful trip. Quincy will be fine.

Lori, I was just in your shoes last week and I so relate to the staying home part and the guilt these kids do to us :) Have fun. Quincy will be fine and staying in his own house will help a lot. Enjoy your son and DisneyWorld.

Have a wonderful trip, Lori! I know just how you feel, about both flying and leaving Quincy. But it sounds like you've made the best possible arrangements for his care, and hopefully your flight will be hassle-free. Enjoy!

Hi Lori,

I know exactly how you feel.  We are going on a cruise in December and I am already dreading leaving my sweet little Ellie & our cats.  That is the only downside of travelling...wish they could go everywhere with us.  I hope you have a lovely trip with your son.  Just think of the big doodle kisses that will be waiting for you on your return...safe trip!

Well, I knew there was a really good reason I never had children ... nobody can try and convince me to leave my girls (except with DH), lol!  Hope you have a great time.  Gonna be hot and crowded so take your patience with you!

Try to enjoy the vacation and the time with your people boy.  It's good that you have someone coming in to stay with Quincy.  We've found this is the best arrangement.

Have fun...it really is hard to leave them.

ENJOY!
