I need to get a stainless steel comb for Millie, and am wondering what the big difference between a regular comb and a buttercomb is? Is it worth the extra cost for the CC buttercomb?
Thank you in advance!

wow. i didn't know such a thing existed. now i'm curious what people will say!
So I bought the Chris Christensen Original Series T-Brush and the buttercomb. I haven't used the buttercomb at all. I brush her with the T-Brush every night and she likes it. I guess this doesn't really answer your question but I am curious to know when you need to use a comb or a buttercomb.
The T-Brush only gets the surface hairs. To know for sure that you have all the mats (the ones down at the skin) is to use a comb that can penetrate down to the skin. If the hair is very thick then you need to line-brush or comb.
I have the Andis "greyhound style" comb and like it okay. I tried an Oster but threw it out somewhere around the second groom when it started to bend. I've been very curious about the CC comb but it's hard to bring myself to pay the money, so hopefully someone will chime in who has used both!
Michelle, I use this style of comb for a few reasons - 1) it's comfortable in the hand for long grooming sessions, 2) it's fantastic for checking that I've actually gotten all of the tangles out right down to the skin (my boyz are very heavy-coated), and 3) to lift the hair for scissoring in those areas where I care that the hair looks even when I'm done. *grin*
Ever hear the saying "it goes thru like a hot knife thru butter" ? This alludes to the fine craftsmanship of the butter comb. I bought a CC comb to get the longer tines. The short tines cut into my fingers in a long session.
And THAT'S what I've been waiting to hear! Where's my "Like" button? I think I'll go ahead and order one tonight.
Thanks for the info! I learn something new from doodlekisses every day!! I LOVE the CC T-Brush though. It's fabulous and worth the money!
